You will notice over time that the battery will charge according to projected needs/trends. For example, I can set the charge limit to 56% during the spring and summer, and it will charge to that target (and of course decrease during the day as it uses energy for various standby sytems).

During the colder months, I can keep the charge limit at 56% and when I check it first thing in the morning it can be around 62% or 63% sometimes. The algorithm knows when colder weather is coming and adjusts accordingly.

I suspect the vast majority of people have never noticed or thought about why that happens.

hahaha...it's like you are "annoyed" at my post. It is just a personality? Are you married? :)
I'm perplexed why you would say you were annoyed over this, I'm not annoyed.

It's baffling why anyone would let such a tiny thing annoy them. I just don't understand.

Noticed the same and I used to get 254-256miles at 80% and now get 250miles
I have 13+K miles and 80% used to give me 254 and now gives me 252. I am hoping it is the cooler weather.

It's almost definitely degradation of some sort and perfectly normal. The 1st year is normally the steepest degradation and that's pretty much a year's worth of driving and less than 1% degradation.

You can generally expect a 4-6% range loss year 1. My M3 RWD is down to like 262mi from starting off at 273mi new 1.5yrs old. Just set it to % and don't sweat it.

Even with my 2021 Model Y following me in the CT to Cali and both left at 88%.

1st leg
Model Y LR was at 88% to 20%.
CT was 88% to 30%.
That made me kinda wonder what was up there with the Y.

2nd leg:
Model Y LR was at 21%
CT was at 24%
Ok, tighter but I think the CT has a bit better re-gen based us talking as we drove.

Both cars charged up and completed within minutes of each other too. CT was holding a higher kW rate at 60%+ compared to the Y. Like 91kW vs the Y's 45kW.

So generally I'd weight the BMS as a best estimate. So much going in to it temp, balancing etc.

Just FYI. This thread isn’t about range loss as so far I don’t have any.

I was just curious why the truck wasn’t charging the last 1%.

It did, but the battery cooled. That SOC reflects an estimate based on temperature. A few percent “loss” is typical in cooler weather. If the battery heats up, it’ll show 80% or higher.
