Well, the topic of this thread is the Cybertruck reservation list, and how it is (or is not) converting into orders. That list apparently grew to more than 2,000,000 reservations from 2019 to 2023, which is a lot. But it now seems like only a tiny fraction of those reservations are converting into actual orders. So this raises a question: why did so many people put down cash for reservations, then fail to follow through?

And one possible explanation is: many of the people who placed reservations expected the Cybertruck to be a lot more affordable -- based on what Tesla told them. And now, as you say, they "just simply can't buy it".

It's not personal for me -- I am not in the market for a Cybertruck, and never placed a reservation. But I can see why some people who did place reservations might feel disappointed.
Yeah I see the disappointment but it’s the bashing or anger or what ever you want to call it that is cringe
I think they knew and allot knew there would be allot of reservations that wouldn’t convert. 2019 and 2024 might as well be 20 years for some people financial changes. Then you had the dreamers hoping by the time they got the invite they would have made it on Wall Street by then and it didn’t happen . I’m also noticing a huge group of people that are saying they have “multiple reservations” which baffles me to what’s the point of that? So clearly allot of those won’t convert . It does seem though allot of angry or disappointed people are hoping some how it fails so it drops in price which also is baffling to me. The fact that allot of people think that because it’s so high in price he’s losing is wild. He can now sell less of the trucks and make the same money as if all the reservations converted,
I also am of the beliefs that more people with that type of money see it more of a status or glamor buy now that they won’t feel there is someone driving a 50k one next to them that’s the same so it opens that market up more . Many car company’s we’ll all of them pretty much have no waiting list for there vehicles and are being sold day after day so if there truly is “no more list “ I don’t see that meaning the truck is failing or will now drop in price. People still will order everyday
Btw: 14 pages in this thread. It’s been about all kinds of things by now ?

OK, I can see you've bought into the BS. :ROFLMAO:

If you bring your Lightning to Washington, we can talk, go wheeling, compare how they both handle heavy trailers, compare stereos, compare the ride over rugged terrain, compare climbing ability on different surfaces and ability to drive through road washouts, compare wading ability, compare ease of loading and unloading different cargo, compare nimbleness in space constricted parking lots and job sites, compare operating costs, compare effectiveness of the Air Conditioning while fast charging, compare travel time on mountain twisties, compare highway range at 80 mph, compare handling with a full rated load (even though it's much lower with the Lightning), etc. etc. etc. ?‍♂

Hint: The Cybertruck frame isn't going to crack, even towing a 11,000 lb. trailer. Don't be so gullible! Please!

Wait a second... Isn't that the truck that the HEAD OF FORD said that he was disappointed with? That it just didn't have the range when towing that it SHOULD have had?

Also, it doesn't have 'similar steering'... It has 'power steering' just like 99% of the vehicles out there... Just like vehicles have had for, what, about 50 years or more? Still has a steering column with u-joints and such... CT has 'steer by wire' meaning there is NOTHING attaching the steering 'wheel' to the rack and pinion steering 'box' other than WIRES... Like an airplane has...

When it comes to quiet, I beg to differ! I was in a Lightning and it's LOUDER than our CT is (and yes, we have the AT tires) and is NOT more comfortable than the CT is either!

And frankly, who cares if it has 'carplay' integration... OH, and GOOD LUCK with the PARTS unless they are generic ones they use on all the F150's... Heck, just trying to find a Ford dealer with a mechanic that can WORK ON them isn't a pretty picture... (seems there are TWO classes of Ford EV dealers - check it out!)

And, as to paint color... How's that going to look after it's been all scratched up? And, remember, paint is on the OUTSIDE... It's for OTHER people, not you...

I'm not exaggerating. I've been looking for 3 months and NOTHING isn't perfect. Literally the only thing I've found is that it only came with 4 license plate screws instead of 8.

My VIN is in the 21,000 range which I think was build in June.
Very encouraging for a new Tesla Cybertruck owner.

Many car companies have no waiting list ? Dude - the cars go on a dealer lot where currently the sales turnover rate is horrific.

Bottom line? The vast majority of Cybertruck reservation holders can’t afford an $80k vehicle.

If Tesla wants to keep the Cybertruck assembly lines humming they need to lower the price point.

Model 3 reservation was $1,000. The list went faster then the Cybertruck. $1,000 is a much bigger commitment then $100, so the list is going to be much shorter.

They didn't make a Foundation Model 3 version but they did only sell the larger battery versions at first. I reserved with the idea of getting a 35k car. I ended up buying a 50k car.
The Model 3 line did not go as fast as the Cybertruck list.

I’m also noticing a huge group of people that are saying they have “multiple reservations” which baffles me to what’s the point of that?
Well, if they wanted two trucks, and the trucks were $50K each... ...But then they spent $100k on one truck, they're clearly not going to buy that second truck, now are they?

Many fleets aren't going to buy the expensive version.

You do know the 'lighter' Lightning has a smaller battery, and hence, a shorter towing range? The Lightning that is heavier than the Cybertruck has the same towing range.
