From someone who owned a 2013 Tesla Model S, and the plan was "keep it forever", it did not happen. There where serious early adopter issues, many of which haunted me forever, such as the PTC heater failing after the extended warranty ran out ($5,000 repair, as it took out the HV converter and a wiring harness). I drove it for 13 years, and 137K miles, before it started throwing "HV codes", "vehicle needs service and may not restart". At this point, it was going to be nearly a thousand to diagnose it, and thousands to fix it, not worth it for a vehicle worth $6-8K max.

With that said, there may come a time when it is not economically feasible to keep an older Tesla, I speak from years of experience, while the Tesla world moved on to the Model X, Model 3, Model Y and now the Cybertruck. I had to replace the OG Model S in August, with of course a Cybertruck.

Tesla as a company is moving with tremendous speed into autonomy, and robototics. After the Cybercab is a success, and they are producing millions of the Optimus robots, they may decide to not make vehicles any longer, that space and human time might be better spent on creating improvments to the autonomy business, and vehicle business will fade into history. Optimus will dwarf vehicle production and revenue within a few short years, and they will likely need all of the factory space for production.. The Cybertruck you own, might not have a replacement.. keep that in mind, and the vehicle business may essentialy go away, except for specialized vehicles, and most people will transition to not owning a vehicle for economic reasons, it will be fast & inexpensive to hail a ride anywhere you need to go.

Nah, I want archaeologists in a million years to dig me up and say "this civilization worshiped the triangle, obviously"

Come back in 2028 and tell me I was wrong, Elon is always late, but he eventually delivers what he promises... He's promised a future of abundance, and Robotaxis and Optimus robots, he has not said much about any vehicles lately, other than the Roadster 2, which is now 5-6 years late, but at $250K, it will not make a bit of difference to their bottom line, but it will be a showcase of technology and what can be done, the SpaceX Rocket Propulsion boosters will be somethng to see :)
it may very well be their last "Halo" vehicle, they will be busy manufacturing Cybercabs and flooding cities with them.

Full disclosure I am a long term TSLA investor

The real answer for me is actually... No.

I bought the AWD version because I believe Cybertruck 1.5 or 2.0 will eventually be here, and will be even more insane than what we have now. And that's the one I want forever.

This truck is going to be the next law enforcement platform, and it's only going to see more attention as time moves onward. It's amazing in its current state, but Tesla can do even better.

I want to see Optimus bots and Cybertrucks on Mars. Maybe I'll trade up for a Cybertruck Mars version.
