I completed the demo drive today in Austin,Tx. I was the first one this morning.

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. The staff was fantastic. The familiarization bit was quick and minimal. I had absolutely zero time to explore the menu. One could bring a +1 and I drove. The drive felt like less than five minutes. I was barely able to get a feel for the variable steering and it was over.

If I hadn't driven a Tesla before and already a fan I can't imagine how disappointing the brevity of the drive would have been.

That being said it was nice to be able to show up, sign in, go on the demo drive, and depart without any high pressure sales!

The truck was great. A bit difficult to wrap ones head around how minimal the interior was since I've never owned a Tesla.
If you want to play with the settings, just go sit in one of the cars on the floor. They are basically 99% the same. Off-Road mode is the main difference.

Maybe it's time to go sit in and then drive one of the cars. There are more similarities than differences.

Tesla doesn't have a sales team. They just have in store associates to help you out. And while they can help you with the purchase process, all they do is set you down in front of a computer and type in Tesla.com.

I loved my (abbreviated) demo drive. Just getting into the cabin and moving forward was pretty exciting. The squircle and steer-by-wire and 4 wheel steering felt very natural to me, I just drove. I have a MYLR so I am familiar with the GUI. The co-pilot (I called him Goose, "talk to me Goose", he was pretty young so I'm not sure he got the reference) did a quick run through on some setting stuff, but to me all that mattered was the drive. The sounds of the motors engaging, the ambient interior lights, the enormous dash, cameras, stalkless controls and being in real world traffic was a kick.

Unclipping the seatbelt will put the CT in park, which is something that doesn't happen on my Y.
Significant Other was in backseat and said it was like a spaceship. To be honest I think they were more overwhelmed than I was.

I’m pretty sure that all Tesla models will go into PARK if the vehicle is slow or stopped and you either connect a charge cable, unbuckle your seat belt, or open the door while in Drive or Neutral.

I pulled into my driveway and did a "hold" and popped my seatbelt as driver and the Y did not go into park. Opening the door did make it go into park.

Unplugging seatbelt in your Model Y should put it in park. I know it does on an earlier Model 3. I think that it does on my Model Y

One day after driving I got out and remember that I forgot to put it in park. But it was in park. That's been maybe 2 years ago. I found it by accident, I think that it was ever publicized.

I'm going to do another test drive. I agree with the poster from August. When I did mine it felt rushed. Having not owned a Tesla prior to this, I wish I could have sat in it a while and really looked around. Also a more comprehensive test drive would have worked to help me see how I felt about blind spots and the camera system not having the 360 cams. Also, want to compare Autopilot to Blue Cruise and Super Cruise.

For those entertaining a CT purchase a test drive is highly recommended.

The SBW/RWS are game changers on a full size pickup. The large and long vehicle magically becomes very nimble.

Why? At this point, everyone who is going to get one is going to get one.

And the only thing that will happen if you take a test drive is that you'll want it more.

How do you like it?
So far it’s amazing.

This morning was surprised to see it downloaded 5 software updates in its sleep and is prompting me to install them now.

I didnt know it would do that over the car LTE

It doesn't generally do it over LTE, it uses WiFi.
It may have moved 5 release numbers later, but it shouldn't have loaded 5 releases at once. You have to hit the install button for each.

I’m all up-to-date now and I have all the features so I guess it did something

I love the parking feature. It just finished the game update today because I connected it to my phones LTE when I went on a road trip to the beach.
