I bought the CT primarily to get me back and forth from my main home in Knoxville to my second home in western North Carolina. To ge there I need to drive on Highway 129 which many motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world call “the Tail of the Dragon. It is a supremely twisted mountain road. When I ordered the CT I thought it might be well suited for this type of driving……boy was I right! I had been driving a Limited F-150 for the last 7 years. Absolutely no contest between the two.! The CT handles the curves better than my wife’s Porsche Cayenne and with minimal steering effort and no braking required thanks to regen. Once I arrive I have to drive on a poorly maintained gravel road with lots of rocks. Here again this vehicle shines. Could not be happier with this Truck!

You had me. From where I live, Dragons Tail is in the video below. You wouldn’t catch me dead driving my CT on that ?

I took a MINI Cooper S Convertible up and down that road 2 years ago at the end of a rally (MINI Takes the States). It was great fun and one of the highlights of the trip. I only have about 80 miles on my Cybertruck so far, but I bet it would be fun once I got more used to the steer-by-wire at slower speeds.

I was so close to doing the tail on the way home on Friday, but did the Cherohala instead, not quite the number of curves, but great views.

The main reason that I didn't do it was because I didn't expect the photographers to be out then.

Speaking of, you didn't do it unless you post one of the pictures from it. Killboy is one of the main photogs.

Tail of the Dragon sounds like a course where the Rear Wheel Steering would add responsiveness and agility through the hairpin turns!

I expect the decrease in steering needed with steer by wire will do the most.

There's a thread out there where some stupid YouTuber complains that the steering is slow. When he turns it from peg to peg, the wheel complete their (stopped on dry concrete) about 0.8s (or something like that) later. The reality, to me, you can't turn the steering wheel peg to peg in any other vehicle that fast. So yes, the final movement of the wheels are slower than that of the steering wheel, BUT, the time from peg to peg is better.

I'm wishing, at times, that I could disable the rear steering. When backing into parallel parking spaces, my brain calculates the destination as if they don't turn, but since they do, I end up on the line instead of centered.

I think I saw that video clip too (was it Cleatus McFarland?), but in reality no one should be jerking their wheel that fast from (center to lock) or (lock to lock) like that, . There could also be an intentional software delay in certain situations, but more responsiveness in other situations such as obstacle avoidance. Testing a jerk of the steering while parked is not realistic, but I think his aim in that clip was to sound byte negativity toward the Tesla steer by wire implementation. I'm not sure his experienced 'delay' was a whole 0.8 seconds either. He also expressed personal bias against the minimalist interior, and seemed to be a GM shill praising the hummer interior. Yet the hummer is hauling around a lot of extra weight with a constant lack of efficiency and will cost a lot more to drive per mile. But that guy's got planes, cars, and even a private air strip in FL, so his concern for money is probably more about his connections than it is about realistic means for an average owner.

Sounds like steer by wire may take some getting used to in parking situations. Maybe Tesla can include a quick toggle or setting (that disables it in parking only), in a software update.
