This wasn't a "Cybertruck Explosion" in the sense people take it when they see the title. Thread name needs to be changed to be less FUD'y.

Actual news here:

Cybertrucks even explode better than the competition.

(my 'out of context' comment of the year, already).

Well, akkkshually, they apparently explode worse - which is better.

From the man himself -

Seems like this person actually believed that because of all the media saying so it was going to burst into a inextinguishable eternal flame that would be impossible for the FD to put out after the initial explosion.

And then, it would probably begin full self-driving while engulfed, spreading the fire to adjacent properties, perhaps the Fashion Show mall, and then run over some small children and amputate at least one or two fingers during the process! All while looking extremely ugly!

🤨

Oh well, the best laid plans of mice and men … .

Not necessarily in this case, but the number one skill to have as a contract killer is the ability to guarantee that a completed job looks like gross negligence and incompetence in the eyes of the laymen.

You know, kind of like the assassination of Princess Diana. 🤷‍♂️
Are you suggesting the driver is the intended victim? Pretty short career for a professional otherwise. 😉

Possible I suppose, but then we're well and truly half way up Conspiracy Boulevard already, looking for the culprit at Maccas in Fact Check mall.

After reading this satirical comment (though nicely done), it occurred to me that this person could have eaten up all the media FUD about the trucks "catching fire" and thought he could use it as a massive thermal grenade to burn down the entire tower.

So, did the Cybertruck engineering team just prevent another Oklahoma City bombing from happening?!

Yep. While I was being sarcastic, this is exactly what I meant. I really do think that he thought he was picking the best tool for the job, but only because he was misled, egregiously, by FUD.

This could be one of the rare examples where someone’s lack of critical reasoning skills has been a net positive. But, maybe that’s true of most criminal enterprises.

I wonder if it’s possible that the New Orleans Ford Lightning attacker thought the exact same thing: he’d crash into the crowd and the EV would just spontaneously combust making everything much worse. Could be a reach, but people are convinced by these lies.

I’m extremely worried about where we’re headed in a world where we’ll have AGI on the one hand and a preponderance of nincompoops on the other. 😖

They should probably check all the TMC posters that virtue signal about selling their Tesla's for Bolts and dumping their Tesla stock. Prob one of those guys. Has Fred elektrek posted an article lately?! He's pretty off the chain with EDS

You can tell by the amount of strong flameout after the initial compression wave that there was a serious amount of compacted accelerant involved. There are certainly ginormous mortar firework rounds that can cause major damage, but I do believe above a certain yield you have to have a slew of ATF checkboxes.

One of those being storage, transport, and definitely not parking next to a hotel lobby.

The fact that the doors didn't blow apart are a serious testament to the over-engineering of the truck. The glass performed very well too.

"But the sheriff also pointed to the exterior of the truck and how it was still completely intact after the explosion. "The fact that this was a Cybertruck, really limited the damage that occurred inside of the valet because it had most of the blast go up through the truck and out," McMahill said. "In fact, if you look on that video, you’ll see that the front glass doors at the Trump hotel were not even broken by the blast."

Far as I'm concerned, CyberTruck saved lives and property in the real world. As for any negative association with it being used in a planned attack, appears to me to have saved lives and property. I think it's good advertising for CyberTruck.

Or he picked a heavier vehicle that he thought could deliver more damage to his targets. We're generally not talking about rocket scientists here, but rather people that have been radicalized into believing they're doing God's work by killing innocent people and themselves.

Given the choice between conspiracy theory and massive stupidity, my bet is on stupidity at least 99 times out of 100.

I think that's a pretty fair assumption, but I also think that the Cybertruck was able to direct the blast upwards because it was a seemingly fairly weak device.
