Did anyone notice that the side sail openings appear to be gone from this version? It's solid metal from the vault cover to the wheels, no seam for the sail to open.
Hopefully it’s temporary and will come back. We have never seen the sail pillar, the frunk, or the under vault area open.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see it deleted entirely 🙁 the whole point of the sail pillar area is to act as a structural piece to assist with towing. Having the Stainless skin open there seems like it would weaken that.

This is something I like a bunch so fingers crossed

Several times when I was loitering around my DeLorean at Tesla-Con:

"Wow, a DeLorean! What year is it?"
"Ummm, 2022. What year do you think it is"
*blank stare*
"That was a time-travel joke"
"Oh! okay"

So does anyone know if THIS is the actual prototype or production model?

They're not yet in production. Even if they were, Tesla makes changes on-the-fly.

I'll be encouraged when we see the 9K casting machine and origami-folder arrive at the factory.

A production model is the one that will go out on the line for production. A prototype model is a model that is made of clay or metal depending on the test runs.

It’s hard to tell how close to complete these are. There are things missing or incomplete and we really don’t know if they will ship or not. Sail pillar storage is missing but we don’t know if that’s interim or a final change. Similar questions with other bits.

It’s not even clear all of them are operational. One didn’t seem to have working 4 wheel steering but the other does.

It’s possible these are very close to final. But we just don’t know.

Cybertruck has a new Dash in Prototype. What do y'all think about it ? View it a 1:15 into video on

It blends better with interior than the Recyled paper one at Hawthorn Reveal . I like it ! What do you guys think ?

The Bed cover could just go under the bed and not roll up. This would provide clearance for the pass thru.

It could stop with some remaining in the bottom of the pass thru and fold forward. This keeps it pretty simple and less stress on the wiring and panel of the cover. If it is solar then it would also flex the linkages less.

Would that be very sound, structurally?

A 4 foot X 6 foot span supporting up to 3,500 pounds with no room for crossbeams.

Does seem sketch.
Agreed but with cross beams and the cover dipping below them in a track? Just spitballing at this point.

I just don’t know how much space they have there for reinforcing it. Would they reduce the vault height to make this work?

the cover is not as wide as the floor so it may be able to to have lengthwise support. Until we get a good blueprint or better engineering drawings, it is all just guessing. The rigidity of T track and substructure we use in Aircraft cargo floors is tough and takes a beating but has to be light. Several sub floor chain drive loader systems and such. Still going to be tight between the bed and structural batter pak.

Motors, inboard pushrod suspension will make this fit impossible. Structurally its a nightmare to try and get the loads into the rear casting, and you block off the rear underbed storage, that now looks like it comes with a spare option. I vote please no. :)
