It is a little odd that no "official" leaks about the range have reached us. Or even unofficial leaks.
range and price are at this point *the* closely guarded secrets

everything else is oozing out here and there

all oozing out, I might add, in a somewhat informally orchestrated way

Tesla has intentionally set the conditions for MANY bits of information to be revealed publicly (see eg the intentional use of open transports), while other bits were presumably known to have a high likelihood of getting out (eg the spec leak of last week)

Range and price, however, may not even been finalized in a concrete way

I guess technically range is defined by the EPA .

Hopefully Tesla has test results from the EPA by the launch event.

sort-of-kind-of, yea

I mean, Tesla collects and submits the data and resulting range to the EPA

EPA either blesses Tesla’s numbers, or asks questions, until it’s satisfied the numbers were achieved per the rules of the testing guidelines

As for whether they have the figures before the deliver event, it’s an interesting question.

If they didn’t it would be clunky, but not out of the question, for Musk to say eg “while the EPA results aren’t in, we’re confident the EPA range will be between [X]-[Y] miles”

EPA defines the method, but Tesla runs the tests. It's kinda honor system-ish.

But it'll be an official document that hasn't shown up yet.

If it is an honor system, I would double check VW's submissions.....

I have a feeling a lot of people waiting for a 500 mile CT that are at mid to end of the line will be looking at Lucid gravity. Serious tow needs probably will go to ICE. If you are not serious, then 6K lb of Lucid may be enough. 3.5 sec 0-60. 1500 lb payload. Probably better feeling of luxury inside. Starting around $80K. Air suspension option. 440 miles range. People that are not serious truck guys or in love with the statement CT makes will be looking at practicality of a Wagon/SUV. 900V fast charging (200 miles in 15 minutes) with access to superchargers. But I have a feeling Tesla may reveal a higher range version of CT to be released around the same time (2025).

Will there eventually be a 500 mile CT? I hope so, but I am not expecting it anymore.
We will know more when they announce specs for the launch versions.
