Yeeeooowwwww!!! I don't know if it's rumor or not, but this kind of damage can only be repaired by an authorized Tesla shop because many parts can't be ordered by anyone else.

It's weird. The parts were ordered from Tesla and arrived on time. The front end of the car costs $2,000.

and buy back the wreck from the insurance to use it for solar energy storage.

This damaged cybertruck moves around the service area on its own; it's still functional, just needs an aluminum part replaced.

It's totaled but owners don't always make rational decisions. It has major damage in more than one area of the truck. It was a high energy, high speed impact, best to recycle it/part it out, and get a new one.

I bet FSD wasn't engaged!

It's cheaper for us to repair it than to buy a new one.

Good point, I didn't know that.

I still think it might be a sub-optimal decision, once all is said and done. Because there can be hidden damage that doesn't rear it's head until it's put back on the road. It will also be forging into new territory for whoever is doing the actual work.

If it works out OK, the Cybertruck is even tougher than I thought!

I will report on the progress of the repairs.

What voltage is your battery when using Model 3/Y cells?
And what DC/AC inverter are you using?

I think using a salvage Cybertruck as a battery storage would be great
because you already have a DC/AC inverter (800V/240V)
and an AC/DC charger (240V/800V) included.

You could re-charge the battery from the Grid (240 AC)
or from solar using a DC/AC (48V/240V) inverter.

We use 100 volts, converting them to 220 volts AC. We only have 50 sunny days a year, so solar panels won't work.

This is good for insurance, if it can be damaged this bad and not be considered totaled. Bad for us, I would want that to be considered totaled, and just replace it with a new one.

My accident on 2/28 USAA offered replacement (with my 20% replacement adder) wouldn't tell me what the repair quote was. After consideration of a repaired truck and possible title listing at recovered and future selling price I opted to take the buyout. after I accepted I got a copy of the initial repair estimate and it was less than $30.

I actually had a hit and run today, side swiped my front passenger side fender, replacement will cost $283.29, including labor. Not too bad. They did gouge my tire, and it'll need replaced, and that means probably all tires replaced, at their current tread depth.

Wow, did the rear wheel break into two pieces ? Tesla should look into Titanium, as cast aluminum is too soft for the weight.

Answer: if you have to money to spend, just total out and buy new!
