I accidentally backed into the garage with my tailgate down. Knocked it out of alignment and it won't auto lower without some force applied.

I've put in a service request, but does anyone know if this is fixable without major part(s) replacement?

Seems like all they would have to do is remove the tailgate and remount it in the proper alignment. But I'm not sure if I damaged the inner mechanics.

The latch still responds to the button.

Likely bent the mounts, not just a quick easy realign fix. Start with a service ticket, they may refer you to the body shop. Won’t know till it’s off.

The tailgate mounts have quite a lot of room in them shift around to assist with alignment. If you're lucky, it may have just slipped without damaging the mounting points--those mounting points are pretty sturdy...
Fingers crossed!

FYI.

I just had mine replaced after it was impacted by the driver behind me while we were at a red light. The tailgate itself, if it needs to be replaced, is $2,850 from Tesla Collision service centers, at least the one in Fort Lauderdale.

His insurance company paid for all the repair costs, only because I ran the claim through their insurance company, not mine.
