NEWS: 294,250 battery electric vehicles were sold in Q1 in the U.S., Up 10.6% YoY, according to Cox automotive. EVs ranked by total Q1 2025 unit sales (with segment share %):

• Ford F-150 Lightning: 7,187 (2.4%)
• Tesla Cybertruck: 6,406 (2.2%)
• Rivian R1S: 5,357 (1.8%)
• GMC Hummer Truck/SUV: 3,479 (1.2%)
• Rivian R1T: 1,727 (0.6%)
• GMC Sierra EV: 1,249 (0.4%)
• Chevrolet Silverado: 2,383 (0.8%)
If this is the BEV pickup list, then the Rivian R1S shouldn't be included, because it is a 7-passenger SUV. The R1T is the Rivian pickup.

The Hummer number is for both the pickup and SUV configurations. The pickup is supposed to be about one-third of Hummer EV sales, so the pickup alone is probably about 1,160.

So the Lightning and the Cybertruck dominate the BEV pickup market. The Silverado EV is a distant third, even if you combine the Chevrolet Silverado EV + GMC Sierra EV, which are basically the same vehicle under different badges and trim.

The Lightning was ahead in 1Q 2024, while CT production was still ramping. The CT took a narrow lead in 2Q 2024, and the gap widened in 3Q 2024. The CT's lead shrank in 4Q 2024, and then the Lightning pulled ahead in 1Q 2025.

2Q 2025 results remain to be seen. The less expensive new RWD variant should ultimately help CT sales, but deliveries aren't scheduled until June-July 2025, which may be too late to boost the 2Q 2025 numbers.

I was a RWD buyer at $60,990. At $69,990 I am on the fence.

Buyers are saving $10k but giving up $10k worth of standard equipment.

The sturdy bed cover, AWD, electric front motor and amazing air suspension are the big sacrifices that RWD buyers need to consider.

Other than downgrading the sound system, what else could easily be cut to reduce cost on the RWD model? The only other thing that might make sense is the tonneau?

If the truck is the same as the AWD, and only lacks air suspension, but gets a $13k discount it becomes compelling. I think even more compelling would be $20k off with a few more cuts, like the tonneau. That would likely be a high(er) volume vehicle.
I believe the changes are, from my observations, the tonneau was removed, the tail light bar was removed, the air suspension was replaced with traditional suspension, the rear screen was removed, likely a speaker downgrade, wouldn't be surprised if they make the glove box manual open instead of electronic, the FS badge and floor detailing in the front is gone, FSD not included, 18" tires or rims, lower quality seats, premium connectivity most likely not included.

Oh and bed D rings and the bed mounting points for the cross bars are gone.
