You would probably get lossless only streaming bluetooth from your phone app I would think, not from the built in Tesla app.

Tesla does not show up as supporting Hi-Res FLAC on the Tidal website:

https://tidal.com/supported-devices?filter=hires-flac
Tidal Premium (Individual, Family plan, and Student plan) which is $10.99/month offers lossless audio quality at 1,411kbps and 9,216kbps respectively.

Yes it does offer it but it' s not supported on every platform and device.

The test results certainly suggest lossless is at play. That's great to see.

However I wonder if 3 years later the test would produce the same results or if they did to Tidal what they did to Apple in limiting bitrate.

It's a shame such tests are even necessary to see if you're getting what you think you're paying for.

I've tried with both the app on the screen, and playback from my iPhone and nada.

I've gone back to YouTube Music via YT premium.

The hardware is there but I bet it's a licensing issue for Tesla. If they won't license the 360 cam they're probably not gonna license Atmos.
Bummer. I guess I get the licensing part, but wish I had some 3rd party capability if not provided by the OEM.

Overall a good sounding vehicle that is far better than Model Ys I have been in. It needs more tuning though and may come in future updates. Definitely capable. Too bass heavy now IMHO. Immersion is ok...ish but a lot better than model Ys. Instruments still don't pop out as much. Not sure if it is just me but I feel certain sections of mid range and sound stage can be improved for better experience.

What are your eq settings and what are your reference tracks?
Max sub, max bass, mids -3, treble -2.
Bob Seger, Her strut for reference track oh yeah

I’m uneducated about tidal. Anyone want to share the pitch?
TIDAL is co-owned by Jay-Z and was developed to be the largest music streaming service with that streams the highest quality Hi-Fi audio with the least amount of compression.

What I like about TIDAL is that they contribute more to the artists than any other service. So many streaming services rip-off the artist and barely pay them anything per stream. Since I don't buy CDs anymore, I wanted to give back to the original artists as much as possible.

Here is a breakdown:

It's pretty good but nothing compared to my Lucid. The Lucid has 21 speakers with Dolby Atmos. Atmos changes the game.
Audio is really subjective as most have already noted. But, I’m curious. How is the Bass in Lucid vehicles compared to the CT? If it’s less than, it would be a real bummer for my tastes. I really love that rich sounding bass (without distortions).

Artist get paid the most on the platform with the most users, i.e. Spotify.

There are 5 million subscribers to Tidal and 675 million for Spotify so it doesn't matter the cost per stream if the user pool is that small.

I tried them all in Tesla's ecosystem and Spotify was by far the best in regards to UI, playlist, searching, play on demand. Tidal did sound better, but Spotify, IMO, was 2nd.

Apple was the worst, in almost all areas.

Great Question. The Bass is great. Because it is in Spatial Audio, the bass doesn't just come from a sub, it bounces around and through every speaker. It's like being at a movie theater and having the sound go all around you.

I understand your point and obviously Tidal doesn't have the subscriber count as the more popular streaming services...

But, imagine if Spotify and the others actually compensated the artists at the same rate as Tidal does....

Why? There are more artist on Spotify because they pay the most.

Taylor Swift has received over $300 million in payments from Spotify.

Also, Spotify offer free advertising for artist to boost play rates. Tidal pays slightly more per stream, but there's exponentially less earning potential due to the size/scope.

Great topic, OP. Thank you for bringing it up!

Someone, please help me. I listen to classical, jazz, talk radio and for dessert, Jimmy Buffet. NO matter what I do, NO matter how I set it... the radio it always sounds like the music is coming from the front dash behind the steering wheel. Now, granted, this is what I grew up with every car made in the '60s, but still?

I am currently in my sixties with respectable hearing and some loss in the high range. I have had the privilege of shooting a LOT of firearms and flying a LOT of jets resulting in tinnitus but still, how should I set up this marvelous system, so the music sounds just as special as everyone hear (pun intended) describes it??

Max bass, max immersive sound and Its like im at a live show. has a good sounding bar band vibe. Wow. My ears hurt too just like the real thing!
For me to tolerate the music, my EQ needs to be set almost kind of opposite.

yes cranks but needs constant fine tuning across genres and sources. And talk radio often sounds tinny.
