I hope this isn’t keeping you up at night @hemiarch, 2:30am 😉😗
No, it’s not, Just filling in some time on the night shift. If I don’t find something interesting to do during the lulls, I’d fall asleep.. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t worry me a little though. . My wife and kids are in this car too and it really elicits the worst of responses from some people.

Not every car on the road comes with an asshat detector for the people around you. We are most fortunate.

We have one of each of those too. People have already said what I believe is the main issue particularly between those two Teslas.

The Model X is a non-descriptive bulbus SUV and Cybertruck is in your face!

Taking politics out of it, you are forced to have an opinion about the Cybertruck, because you can’t ignore it.

Just think about it in terms of people. A lady shows up to a party in a very nice black dress it could be incredibly expensive or from Ross. You don’t know you may not even notice her or scrutinized what’s going on with the outfit. She’s just a lady in a black dress. You’ve seen that before.

Same party, a guy shows up in a neon green three-piece suit with a top hat. You think you’re not going to notice or form an opinion? Do you think others are going to let you not notice and after pointing this guy out demand to know your opinion?

Maybe you love it. Maybe you hate it. Maybe you’re so offended by this guy taking a centuries old totem and defiling it that you need to give him a piece of your mind. Even more so, if that color is associated with some identifiable movement or person.

That’s it; that’s Cybertruck. 🤷🏾‍♂️

*NOTE: I just want to say that I think it’s impossible to separate the politics though. And that’s driving a lot of the vitriol that we see. If it was just about design the temperature would be lower and we would still mostly be seeing threatened “truck guys” rolling coal like in the beginning.

The real test and comparison is going to be when Apteras start making their presence known on the road. I expect people to treat my Aptera like any other weird vehicle on the road which usually just kinda gets raised eyebrows and curiosity. Think of any kit car you’ve ever seen. I don’t expect people to get so mad. And that’s a very different feature of the CT/EM convergence. The Aptera is going to look like a futuristic tadpole it’s not gonna threaten people. I’m probably going to have to endure some sperm jokes too. 😏 But again, I don’t buy cars giving a shit what other people think.

So as the owners of both a Cybertruck and a model x, my wife and I both have a hard time understanding the difference in interactions we have with others when driving the two vehicles.
There is clearly more antagonism towards the truck than the model x.
Anyone care to offer an explanation for why this is?
It’s obviously not the “I can’t afford it” thing because both cars are similarly priced.
I think both are clearly associated with Elon and in fact more people have had time to form this association with other Teslas than the trucks.
So what is it about the Cybertruck specifically that rubs people the wrong way?
Have you watched the news in the last 90-days?

Elon has taken the fun out of owning a Tesla, especially Cybertrucks.

That guy is about as deep as a puddle and just as transparent.

Still love, my CT and hopefully that guy can get his head pulled out.

Hey; trolling the trolls is plenty fun. Now it’s like they’re drawn into my magnet tar pit trap. Lean into it. 😉

One of the security guards in my building will no longer talk to me because of it. Neither will my neighbor.Apparently, it is particularly offensive to the LGBTQ community. This apparently is because it projects strength and confidence which is apparently opposite to the values of that community.

I tried to have a civilized discussion about it, but apparently some members of that community will not even open dialogue with people that do not believe the same things that they do.

I have offered to put a little rainbow sticker on the bumper, but that had the opposite of the intended effect. So I simply resorted to my inner 12 year-old and set it to fart on command.

Unfortunately, the members of the LGBTQ community do not seem to have much of a sense of humour around the cyber truck. I suppose they are simply looking for something to be angry at and it is suitably rare enough, and recognizable enough to suit as an acceptable Focus of their chronic inner turmoil and anger.

The guy in the Nissan leaf who parks a couple of rows away from me never gets any shade for it.

But… He is driving in Nissan leaf…

Enough said.

Guys, there’s a quote from a wise sage that applies here. The Good Doctor Hunter S. presciently wrote:

“When the going gets weird, the weird turn Pro.”

What do all the haters driving VW’s, Porsche’s, Mercedes, Toyota’s, Honda’s, Mitsubishi’s, et al, have to say about what all their car manufacturers were up to during WWII…?

#hypocrisy is a powerful disease.

There's one trans person who works at a coffee place I go to regularly. They absolutely hate me now and it's awful and awkward to just order my drink. I have nothing but love for everyone, so this is really unfortunate, but it's reality.

This is the best response. If you get mad at the haters, they win. If you smile and have a good time, it takes the wind out of their sails and most will sheepishly go away. A few may do some self-reflection. Another slightly less friendly thing I do is smirk at them and encourage them while openly filming them with my phone.

I can confirm this: I got more visceral disgust and hate from inflexible brains in early/mid-2024 than I do now in the politically-charged period anti-Elon period. And the kids still love it.

the design/shape of all the vehicles on earth are firmly imprinted in human brain-then comes Cybertruck-it throws a gut punch. People whose emotion is open & receptive to change will be skeptic but welcoming. So, these kind of people will deep dive and amazed of Cybertruck superior tech. Kids love Cybertruck b/c they aren't rigid yet. People were hateful to CT before EM tryst with politic.

The CT is a mirror. People see in it how they feel about their lives. It brings out their unfiltered selves.

That's why kids love it, and struggling adults, or people struggling to BE adults, hate it.
