I recently hit a bump in a construction zone at about 55 and a loud metal on metal bang came from the front left wheel. The truck was in Medium height. I checked the area when I stopped, though I wasn't sure what to look for... missing bushing, damaged wheel well? Thoughts?

Does it continually happen now? Or was it once? If it happens all the time now, have someone slowly go over a bump and get close to see where its coming from. I had this problem on my Jeep Gladiator and it was a loose bolt. I did what I said above to identify the location and further inspection showed that a sway link needed to get tightened.

Are you familiar with the sound of the battery pack flexing? I am wondering if that could be what you heard. This is a common occurrence on the Model 3, and I would expect there would be some carryover to the CT. This can be a very loud and disconcerting noise the first few times you hear it, but it is a nothing burger. I still get a bit startled by it, usually changing grade such as turning into a steep driveway, but it is normal and not something to worry about. Hopefully your noise was something similarly harmless.

Thank you ... that is a relief and is likely what happened - in addition to the bump it was also in a curve.

It only happened the one time... maybe I am driving more cautiously for the moment :). I think it was likely the battery pack flexing that @WormtownKris mentioned.

Yeah then I wouldn’t worry about it. You are likely fine.

Are you sure the truck was in medium height? did you check the height immediately after? Or was that just where you had previously set it, and the next time you checked after you had slowed down, it still showed medium? I ask because I've noticed nothing I do will keep my truck in medium height once I get on the highway. I think the changeover to low is around 50mph, but I haven't had an opportunity to test it to find the exact speed it lowers. The ride becomes harsher in low mode, and several people reported this issue when they were in low. But you'd be the first to mention it while being in medium.

Yeah, it was in Medium before and after. I was driving through a highway construction zone with a sharp s-curve and temporary pavement / asphalt at about 55Mph... so taking the sharp turn (I should have slowed down, but was enjoying the tight steering and low roll) and the coinciding pothole/bump (not sure which) seems to line up with the battery flex situation described above.

What dynamics setting were you on? If one of the softer settings the wheel has little resistance when accelerated and can make a louder noise. If once it may have been just that. I hear in our beast over pot holes and some bumps.
