This is great, wish each car in the lineup also gets their own exclusive Key Card, when you have multiple Teslas you have to use ugly labels to differentiate them, and its not the best solution.

For my Porsche keys, I always get the option that they are all color-matched to the car.
One thing that I saw someone mention a few years ago, that just never really dawned on me.

A key can be paired to multiple vehicles. You don't need to differentiate them.

https://teslaappupdates.com/articles/article.html?version=4.29.0

Highlights from de-compile of software 4.29.0:

- More summon work being done
- Metal keycards for Cybertruck
- API Endpoints changed to using VIN as identifier
- Commemorative cards (almost like trading cards in app)
On my X, I keep a key card in my wallet, a fob in my pants pocket and the app on my phone. When my hands are full, the phone opens the door, otherwise I use the fob. Just feels more secure. Old fashioned, I guess.

Why metal key cards? Won't they scratch wherever it is that they get touched/tapped?
First, that's something found in software, no other indication that it will ever exist.

I've got an AmEx metal card. It really isn't that different from a plastic one. The edges are really smooth and probably wouldn't do any more damage than a plastic one.

Reminds me of after 9/11 when they took the metal knifes off the planes and replaced with plastic ones. The metal knives were always so dull, they could barely cut butter. The plastic ones, if you break them on a diagonal could make some super deadly weapons.

I agree that not everything that appears in software actually makes it to production.
Yes, I know about the metal credit cards, though mine seems to scratch more than I expected. Could be the Ridge wallet I use. Nevertheless, even the plastic keys scratch the plastic contact surface, hence the PPF aftermarket fixes. Honestly, though, I use my phone access 99%+ of the time, so I don't fully appreciate why people use the card key.
BTW, your post reminded me that I need to PPF around the door handle on my BMW. Thanks for the memory jogger.

I wondered about ordering a fob for my 2018 Model 3, but I figured I could always order one later. Never did and am glad I don't have one for the X now. Key card in the wallet though. (I'm old enough to remember separate ignition and trunk keys, and having to keep all my keys on a ring.)
Now I'm annoyed with having to carry clunky key fobs, even just in my pocket. I could do my BMW with the phone app, but response time is slooooow. :(
