I have a radio tower in Paris.Yeah I need to know who they are too, I have some magic beans to sell.
I'm not trying to start an argument with you about it, but your example is instructive. My pricing structure is not the Turo rate, but rather it is less than 1/3 of the Turo rate. If you looked at leasing your lake house at an annualized rate of $200 a night, that would be about $6,000 a month. I don't know anything about your lake house, and I'm sure that's still a hefty premium, but it is not nearly as out of whack as the $20,000 a month that your post indicated.can you imagine someone thinking you could rent out a home for 12 months and get the Airbnb pricing though?
My lake house that I Airbnb for $600-700/night would be $237K+ annually ... Any takers for a 12 month lease?
I appreciate your response, but nothing of what I came up with is as crazy as paying $8,000 per month for 12 months for a Cybertruck dude.I'm not trying to start an argument with you about it, but your example is instructive. Factoring in the fact that there is a general balance between supply and demand of lake houses, but nowhere near an equilibrium for cybertruck's, I think my pricing structure is in the right ballpark.
Don't let the haters get to you. It's not a bad idea. Maybe price at 2x MSRP. Half now and half in a year, when you transfer the title. If they back out, no biggie... you'll get more than the second installment from someone else. I've heard that 2x is a common offer to CT owners. And one thing I've learned from Monterey Car Week, there are people who will pay anything to have something they want.So much vitriol. I'm neither a scammer or a scalper in any traditional sense. There is really no reason to throw shade.
I purchased and drove my OG Model S P85 in December 2012. I would still be driving her today except she got totaled in a hit and run in October 2021. We placed an early deposit on our model 3 for my wife, and we got her as our second Tesla in 2018. I placed my Cybertruck order on day 1, minute 1 because I'm a Tesla enthusiast.
I have about 340k miles behind the wheel of Tesla's, and I paved the way in the early days by stopping at RV parks to get enough juice to finish road trips. My current daily driver is a 2017 MS 100D that was a "new to me" replacement after my P85 was hit. My wife uses the M3 as her daily driver.
I am able to keep and drive the Cybertruck, but it just makes financial sense to consider options when there is a clear gap between supply and demand. I'm happy enough driving my Model S, and I don't feel any compelling need to be the first person in my town to drive the CT. I expect that I will own and drive her for 300k+ miles over the next 10-15 years and beyond.
I believe there may be people who have the means to pay a premium to play with a new toy when it is scarce, and I have the ability to make that happen for them and offset a price that is a lot higher than what I originally expected. If you aren't a fit, for that, just skip the post.
The pricing I am offering is far below Turo. I'm not suggesting that it is a direct comparison, but it does provide a frame of reference. My current terms are as follows:
1 Year @ $96k ($267/day)
6 Months @ $58,500 ($325/day)
3 Months @ $36,000 ($400/day)
I understand that is a hefty premium. It might make sense for a business who wants to wrap and advertise. It might make sense for someone with a collection of much more expensive cars who doesn't have a "hook-up" at Tesla. It might not make sense to anyone.
We will find out soon enough.
I'm a fellow host, and here to tell you long term leasing happens all the time on AirBnb. It's actually one of the best ways to boost revenue. Generally folks offer a substantial price reduction (mine is 56%) and still clean up. Also it requires far less work.can you imagine someone thinking you could rent out a home for 12 months and get the Airbnb pricing though?

Not when you have high occupancy rates and demand, my calendar is always booked so I'd lose a lot of money discounting that much.I'm a fellow host, and here to tell you long term leasing happens all the time on AirBnb. Sound point, but I can't exactly hide in a CT up here anyway.Maybe you should take your license plate off of your avatar image. It’s pretty easy to figure out who you are…
I think you are either underestimating the number of people who can afford this as an experience, or you are overestimating the number of people who have that access to jump the queue.Someone who has the throwaway money for that monetary lease, probably has access to buy it.
