Hi everyone, this is my first post. I have visited this site many times, and I wanted to say thank you and add a data point. I'm in northern California (north of Sacramento).

Reservation night of RN1127471xx
12/15: Never got an email to order, but checked on 12/15 based on posts on X and I was able to order. My order date showed 12/16 like some others.
12/22: Received powershare survey.
2/9: Received VIN ending in 194x. I didn't get an email this time either (constant checking).
2/19: Received text from electric company.
2/20: Electrician came out, and provided quotes for two options the next day. One was ~2,700 and the other was ~3,600. If I were to accept which I'm going to, he notifies Tesla, then Tesla sends the equipment to him. Really cool guy.
2/22 (today): Unexpectedly, received phone call from Dublin, scheduled pickup for tomorrow! I did my payment and finished all tasks except for delivery just now.

I'm not an employee. I'm a shareholder who did win the random lottery to go to the 2022 annual shareholder meeting in Austin.

I appreciate all the info that has been shared on here! I need to lookup the best cleaning tips.

Can you please clarify what exact equipment he will be installing ?
Beside the PowerShare will he brings a Universal Charger 3 as well ?

Why did he gives you two different prices?

Yes! On both:

  1. Tesla Gateway 3V for Powershare
  2. Tesla Universal Wall Connector with Powershare
  3. Plan permit design and filing fees
Option 1 (cheaper) comes with a Tesla backup switch (https://www.tesla.com/support/energy/powerwall/learn/tesla-backup-switch) which hardware is included in the Foundation series.

I'm in no way an expert on this stuff, but option 1 (cheaper) has a device that is connected behind the meter. When the power is out, that lets the switch turn on. We can't use powershare unless the power is out. This will power everything on our main panel, and our smaller sub panel in the house.

If we did option 2, they would move the sub panel and all 120v circuits on the mail panel to a new box (more labor). This option would make sure I didn't try to push more power than the truck should. It would also mean either air conditioners would not work.

I'm doing option 1. It will be my responsibility to basically not turn on both air conditioners. With option 1 and backup switch, everything in the house can work just like it does. I'm assuming the cybtertruck by June will be able to have a safe shutoff if I wanted to turn on all lights and both ACs.

I hope that answers, but let me know if you have any more questions!

Amazing team in Dublin! I'll post more thoughts this weekend. This truck attracts a LOT of attention!
Good thing they put up that rope so it couldn't escape

Send me a message if you want to check it out. This thing is a happiness machine. Between friends and family, I have had over 20 people in the truck today. If anyone gets one soon, expect questions, stares, and cameras pointing at you

get an AC Soft Start kit installed (Super easy to install) and then you should be able to run them both at the same time no issues instead of 100 amps or more to start the compressor and fan it will be closer to 25.. how do they not recommend this to you ? not very good installer.

Wonder why Tesla is sending the Gateway 3V and Universal wall connector with powershare to the Electrician? ** example - One could buy the universal wall connector at tesla site and they would send it to you home. Of course the gateway & backup switch is not listed at the tesla site. But still all of this equipment should be given to the buyer all at one time to allow the buyer to choose who they want to install these components. 2 cents.

Also my my 2 cents but my guess is that Tesla trying to mitigate their liability from the home jobber.

it seems that it’d be a no brainer that if you tried to install something like this yourself (unless you’re a qualified electrician of course…) that the liability would be on you if your house burned down or your CT became roached but……. ‘Merica!

I installed this yesterday, my AC has a LRA rating of 105 but now starts up with only about 26A:

I think it runs much quieter now, too.

The installation was reasonably straightforward, and made simpler since the newer unit upgraded the bare wires to include spade connectors and lever-style splicers, so no crimping was necessary. My only worry was cutting/splicing the compressor run wire, so I traced it from the contactor to the compressor to make certain it was the correct wire.

FYI the installation video by Micro-Air is awful, this one by "How to Home" is superior.
