I’m gonna keep my Y and Turo that. Possibly the Cybertruck as well, once I kind of learn how Turo works.

Honestly, I would not mind renting out to special events like weddings or let local Solar installers use for expos or things like that where it’s going to help bring attention to their booth.

I’d for sure make it available for anyone wanting to use on a YouTube video as long as it was not anything that was likely to damage it.

I’ve thought about approaching local limousine businesses and offer it for prom service if a licensed chauffeur would be driving it.

I think it would be super cool to drive in a parade too!

1000 makes sense consider it’s a rental with huge liabilities. I’m in RI, probably 1 of maybe 6 (though I’ve only seen 2 orders including mine on the chart). I’d have to get with the Rhode Island guys which would be pretty easy in the smallest state if (very BIG if) I took the Turo route.
Yeah Im in Los Angeles, so I think it's really important to keep the pricing the same so we don't screw each other.

You don't rent out your personal vehicle unless you are ok with not having it for a while.
Yes, you won't have it when it is being rented, but also there is always the possibility that it will be damaged and need to be in the shop for a while.
You make sure to take a deposit (or credit card hold) for anything you rent out. You make sure you properly insure a car you rent out.

I would not rent our my daily driver. If I had more cars than drivers I would consider renting out the extra car, never the one I want to be driving.

I'll bet when AWD is selling for $59K, a lot of people will regret not finding a way to recapture that $40K, when the opportunity was ripe.
That $59K AWD will be a better truck than todays truck, as well.
Its important to think about a purchase like this in one of 2 ways. Its a member of the family, and cost and value do not apply. Or, its a product, purchased for a task, and it has diminishing value. If you're in the latter camp, then buy it in the name of a business. Section 179 it, and get maximum insurance. Then rent it for enough to justify the expense, and try to get your cost to own below $50K after all expenses. Hopefully you had the forethought to reserve a second truck. That one can be your youngest child. In the mean time, you'll be able to enjoy an over priced toy, at minimal cost to you. #Crowdfunding
But that's not going to be until at least 3, maybe more years into the future.
To do that, Tesla first has to optimize production to save the $17k that it is COSTING Tesla to build each one today (at least 18 months). And then well over $20k to be able to drop the price and continue to make a little profit.

That's a lot of optimizing and cost cutting to do.

Of course if you meant RWD, then that's going to be a reduced functionality compared to the AWD. That will probably be smaller battery and at least a downsized audio system, and probably a lot more reductions.

While I don't think they will come after you price fixing is illegal. Also, this is how an economy works, supply and demand.

Turo is a market. Why wouldn't someone undercut the next person to get more utilization of their rental?

$1,000 a day weeds out a lot of the idiots.
I'd say just the opposite. It weeds out the people who really want to try one and only includes those YouTube idiots with the disposable income.

You know, like the idiot who crashed an airplane as a YouTube stunt.

I can't believe the one that was throwing the steel balls. It seems that people forget the reason why the original demo failed. It was REPEATED testing that created micro fractures that eventually led to failure.

I think one key strategy among CT owners is to come together and stick to a price on Turo if we're going to monetize as much as possible. The moment someone tries to scrape to the bottom its over. If everyone can agree on a price; it keeps the higher net worth renters using it; limiting your chances (I emphasize limiting because you never know).

$1,000 a day weeds out a lot of the idiots.

If I were to rent mine, I would also have a separate agreement aside from Turo's that states they can't purposely try to cause any damage or harm to the vehicle and can be held liable. Also throw in a no off-roading clause.
$1,000 a day pretty much makes it so only very wealthy OR youtubers are going to rent it. At this point most of the content has been made for the truck so they would need something clickbait worthy, aka throwing a toaster at it to generate views.
