In light of recent news events and while I certainly see the appeal; is the reward worth the risks?
Anyone having second thoughts, now?

I have a few questions for anyone that rents their CT's on the Turo app.

-Can you put restrictions on where (for example not out of state) or how far the CT can be driven?
-Do you add a mileage charge? These tires can be expensive.
-Does Turo provide ALL the insurance? What are their limits on liability?
-What type of background check is done on the renter, just a credit card check?
-Does it matter if the renter has their own auto insurance policy or not?
-Is there a terrorism exclusion and an option to add that coverage back in? Have you been told about the "Graves Amendment" (laws specifically related to auto rentals)?

I am sure the events surrounding NOLA and LAS are going to get crazy with litigation and lawsuits.
We have quite a few attorneys active on the board, I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

(BTW, my daughter (living overseas) rented a jeep on Turo for six weeks when visiting last year and she said it was generally a positive experience.)

Never rented from Turo. Question also. Could someone compare the process in documents compared to a traditional car rental from a security/documents requested. Same? Easier?

Also does anyone think the Turo aspect makes multi state rentals easier? Would think the owner would want to know if car is leaving the state.

Sure they type of vehicle to choose in the case of Cybertruck makes Turo type rentals a must.

The reason I bought my first Tesla in 2014 was a result of Turo-ing a Model S back then. I could never Turo one of my personal vehicles, but I'm glad that some can and choose to do so.

I have rented from Turo many times - all positive experiences. I LOVE the fact that the paperwork is done before you pick up the vehicle and I always filter by vehicles that can be dropped off in the airport parking lot. I just get off the plane and head to my rented vehicle - saves a lot of time as opposed to the major rental companies.

I briefly thought about renting one of my vehicles, since I work from home and can afford to be without a vehicle for a week or so. I read through the entire Turo policy and decided against renting it out. Granted this was a year or so ago, so things may have changed, but it didn't make much financial sense.

Assuming the renters would be first time Tesla drivers and considering the thrill of its speed, I figured there would be more likelihood of something going wrong. Turo offers "tiers" of insurance - the more insurance they cover, the less you get for the rental. By my calculations, it was just not worth the effort to rent out one or two vehicles. I can see how it could be beneficial to own a fleet of vehicles and your full-time job is Turo, but not for a single vehicle. But that's just my opinion.

Not so the mileage but the acceleration is what toast the tires on the CT.
I scratch my head about people who rent their camper vans on these sites. Taking a heavy camper van down a mountain pass while roasting the brakes is an expensive repair. People with zero experience do this.

paper works don't matter-there's no where to know the 'intention'-the underlying motive/desire.

And zero care. They literally couldn't care any less how much they destroy your vehicle.
