Dog Mode bonus in CT

I just realized the other day that Dog Mode in the Cybertruck is better than any other Tesla because you can turn it on and still have the bed open. In the other models if you turn on Dog Mode with the tailgate open you are just wasting energy. Also, because you are only cooling the cab it cools the CT much faster. Big win!

2. A dog cannot be in cabin and the bed at the same time.
3. Why would anyone leave their vehicle with an open door and the AC running then leave their dog inside?

3. I start dog mode without the dog in to cool the car down when it’s really hot. A more important question is why don’t you? So I have to wait around for the temperature to drop low enough that my dog will be safe when I leave the car. I do the same with the CT but it happens really quickly and while I am still doing things in the bed.

I am not trying to s#!t on your shower thoughts. It just didn't make sense. Now that you explained it more clearly I understand your use case.

I believe most people drive to a destination with the dog in the car, turn on dog mode, then go shopping or whatever. The car is already cold, it never heats up and you do not need to wait. Also opening a door doesn't immediately heat up the vehicle to unsafe levels. The AC works so fast even when my Teslas are at 120° inside, they get down to 70° in about a minute.

Half of my friends that live in or near SF are pot heads, and there is nothing wrong with that.

I'm with @Pops I just don't get the revolutionary concept. Yes, you can get the tailgate open. I never expected you couldn't. But what advantage is that?

When I engage in your example use case that is what I do also.

My use case is a sports use case. I drive to the dog swimming are / kiteboarding site, take the dog for a walk/swim, come back and rig my gear for kiteboarding and don my wetsuit, and then leave him in the car while I ride for however long. The car is hot when we return from the walk and needs to be cooled down. I can think of any number of isomorphic use cases that are similar to what I do.

I gave up all the drug (and alcohol) stuff 40 years ago. It was fun back then but I use sport for that high.

For you and @Pops I suspect there is no equivalent use case and that is fine. For people that have to use the bed contents for something there is a use case, and for them it is both different from our other Teslas and great. It might take me 20 minutes to get ready to leave the car. With my Model Y I could not realistically have the liftgate open and have Dog Mode on (nor did I want to leave the dog in the car until I actually left the car), so I would have to stand around after I had finished getting ready to make sure that the car was cool enough for the dog before leaving. Given that with other Teslas you have to cool down the entire car that could take a few minutes, but with the CT it is only the cab. Lots of sporting activities might be similar to mine: climbing, diving, technical mountain biking, skiing or snowboarding, kayaking, hangliding, paragliding, etc. (any activity that would require some gear and setup time but where you couldn't reasonably take your dog).

I do not take a phone with me when I go out on the ocean, so I have to turn off bluetooth and stash the phone before I leave the truck. There is no remote setting the A/C from the ocean or even where I do my setup 1/8 mile away from the parking area.

I can understand and appreciate that you guys don't do these kinds of things, but there are many that probably do.

All I can say is that you either don't have a dog, or you don't care much for its comfort. And my post was clearly not for you but for the people for whom this use case is real on a day-to-day basis. I believe that for those people there won't be an argument over the value or efficacy.

You evidently didn't comprehend what I said.

I said that I would be ME in the car in those conditions. I feel that if I'd do it to ME, then it would be safe for a dog.

And I'd add that I actually do this on a regular basis if my wife is driving. I'll go get in the truck or the car in the driver's seat and close the door. After 5-10 minutes, if I don't do anything, the A/C will turn off, but if I just turn the system on, I'm happy. I NEVER have to wait for the vehicle to cool down.

These aren't ICE where you have to have the engine on and the A/C ripping and either at a high idle or moving for the compressor to kick in.

A Tesla A/C is moving cold air in 15 seconds.

This is like reading a drama....."Days of Our Tesla's BS". If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

Now for the real issue, Dog Mode does not prevent animals from pressing door button and opening door. Just had my dogs do this and they went running into the parking lot. Got an alert on phone and was able to grab them but WOW Tesla!!! WTF?! Dogs could have been killed, stolen, bite someone. Real, Real Issue. WARNING!!
