I have a big dog but he's getting a bit old and stiff, and finding it hard to jump into the back of my Model Y these days. Unfortunately he can't figure out ramps either.

The clearance on the Y from the ground to the trunk is roughly 27 inches. I was looking at the CT and it seems like he'd fit fine on the floor of the back seat with the seats folded up and a decent custom pad on the floor.

What's the minimum height step up from the ground to the floor of the back seat area in the CT? In the Y it's about 17 inches which I think he could manage.

Anyone else using that area for a dog?

Thanks!

It's about 18 and 1/2 in from the floor to the top of the door sill at the bottom with the truck lowered for entry
Will also add that there's plenty of room with the seats up. I have two huskies and they get around back there together just fine

Also, the fact that you can open the back door of the CT 90 degrees makes putting dogs in a lot easier. My BIL has an English Retriever (big ass golden retriever ) and it’s been fine for a few times that we have tried.

Can your guys' dogs look out the window when they are standing on the floor in the back?

Would love to use that space for my golden so he doesn't mess up the seats but if he can't see out the windows he will be very upset!

No, much too high. I ended up getting a dog seat cover designed for the CT. There are a couple of variations depending on the config you want to use (seat up, down, etc.). For the seat down versions there is a hard surface that helps to extend from the seat cushion to the back of the front seats which is nice. Problem with the use case needed here though is that it makes the entry much more difficult for dogs. They have to jump or be lifted up onto the seats.

An upholstery shop (or a person with sewing skills) could modify a rear seat cover designed to work with both seats up, to work with just one of the seats up. That would provide for a short step up to the floor and still give the dog a lowered seat to sit on or stand to see out.

My German Shepherd thinks it is his own personal chariot. He refuses the floor and I purchased a 3-point harness so that he can sit on the rear seats on top of the pet-protection cover. He is a free-loader living the dream.

How do you secure them when the seats up? I have a cane corso and wondering how I can transport her in the CT. I’m thinking I just need the 2 seats up and the other could remain down. Just don’t know how to keep her from getting jostled during a drive.
