It signals way too early. I've had nav guidance say something like 'in 1000 feet turn left', then within a second or two the turn signal goes on. In one case it signals well before it reaches the intersection *before* the intended left turn intersection. And speaking of left turns, FSD routinely makes illegal left turns in Sloth or Chill when turning into a multi-lane road. It always turns into the rightmost lane since it is trained to stay right at (almost) all costs. Shameful they can't get basic traffic laws right.

Mine almost never turns into the right most lane when turning left. There is one instance where I routinely drive that it does (a one way with two lanes) and it isn't at all natural there. In almost every other instance, it picks the left most lane and then tries to move right... which isn't natural at all in my area, despite being technically illegal. In my experience, it tries way too hard to adhere to traffic laws to be natural where I'm at (no rolling stops, does a full stop then creep forward before full stopping again to turn right on red, left most lane then quickly signal over). It does a lot of impressive things, but acts like a person who is ultra paranoid about every law.

I always thought it was 100' before turn or 200' if the speed is 45mph or more. At 45mph, 200' is only 3 seconds before the turn (obviously somewhat more since you're going to slow down).

Because I know people are impatient beasts, I usually delay signaling before a cross street or driveway where I see somebody waiting, but technically that signal is for the driver behind me, not the driver in front of me. If you pull out in front of a signalling driver, it's almost always going to be your fault.

14.1.7 was more realistic in the blinker action and lane change swiftness. 14.2 uses blinker too early and too much. Also, takes a long time to change lanes.
