They dont pay shit for trade-ins. If it was a real offer, it shouldn't have conditions. If rivian folds, thats their trajectory at the moment, their cars will be worthless

You know almost every one of Teslas offers has conditions?

Get free FSD for a few months, but you have to be referred. Move FSD to your next vehicle but you have to buy now. Get your Cybertruck but you have to pay 20k extra.

They had $18B FCF at the height of their business when money was pouring in from investors. they have been burning through $6B per year the last 2 years so they are down to $6B. The stock has lost 65% of its value since the beginning of the year and they are still gross margin negative. They are losing money on every vehicle they sell from the day they started making vehicles. Its a race against time for them to turn the corner to profitability.

They've already made moves to turn the corner. Let's not act like Tesla didn't have the same issues.

I received the same email (5 times) and I'm still not sure I understand the program. It only applies to a few vehicles:

• 2018 or newer Ford: F-150, Explorer, Expedition, Bronco (excluding Bronco Sport)
• 2018 or newer Toyota: Tacoma, Tundra, Highlander, 4Runner
• 2018 or newer Jeep: Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Gladiator
• 2018 or newer Audi: Q5, Q7, Q8
• 2018 or newer BMW: X3, X5, X7

If you don't have one of those, or you're not ready to trade it in, you get diddly. Plus, what's to stop Rivian from low-balling the trades and then adding a few thousand dollars of their magical credit to bring the trade-in value back to market?

Oh, and that $5K isn't really $5K. If you want a Quad motor, which only comes with the large pack, it's a $1K credit.

• R1T Standard, Standard+ Pack - $3,000 / $4,500 CAD
• R1T Large Pack - $4,000 / $6,000 CAD
• R1T Max Pack - $5,000 / $7,500 CAD
• R1S Large Pack - $1,000 / $1,500 CAD

I caught a rumour, perhaps true, somewhere today that Tesla FSD is temporarily priced at $8K.....down from the $12K

I'm one of the rats deserting the Tesla ship for a Rivian. I agree, stop believing the one-sided views here and in other Tesla spaces.

Is my R1T perfect? Nope. Are there things I wish they had, that Tesla does? Yes. Are there things it has that I always wished for in a Tesla? Also yes. It's a compromise with no clear winner. The last thing holding me in a Tesla was the charging, and that's open now. With Rivian having their own chargers, I actually have MORE options now in the Rivian than the Tesla, for most of the Southwest where I drive.
