Geopolitics aside, this may further non-EV owners' fears of manufacturers having the ability of disabling vehicles without owner permissions.

I love this guy. So passionate about Solar and Batteries and make the same argument that I would as to why EV are better in the “Zombie Apocalypse” than ICE trucks.

I love to spend time considering what I would do in a "Zombie Apocalypse" as much as the next guy. But one thing that gave me hope in humanity was seeing what happened in COVID. Society didn't fall apart and we didn't start eating each other like the movies predict.

It would be great to drive around my solar charged Cybertruck in post apocalyptic city ruins, but sadly, I just don't think I will get that chance. People will probably be doing something boring like working together and fixing things. Especially if the social media companies don't survive, people would get along just fine. meh.

Can he do that to our trucks? What if the government made him do it?

Correct. This is bad. Elon being able to choose whether I can drive my vehicle or not is not acceptable under any circumstances even if I’m committing war crimes.

This is my problem with these guys and their political rhetoric about the other side.

It’s like a hyper jealous girlfriend/boyfriend, these people are projecting what they would do if they could.

Very bad!

That tells me they would have problem with disabling anyone else's tesla. For what ever reason that suits them.

Politics aside... why the F*** would you want ~275mile range CT in battle field? With big guns weight... and you would drive like crazy in battlefield the mileage will reduce further. Do they have superchargers.

This is why we need a strong third party aftermarket, like those at Unplugged Performance and others, to provide hacks and performance work arounds!

TBH this is already the case, even with gasoline cars. If your car has a built in SIM card then chances are it can be bricked.

Regardless of what's verified in this particular situation, I'm not sure how much of a real concern the possibility of remote disabling would be for Cybertruck owners day to day.

Almost everyone carries a cellphone today which can be both remotely disabled and also used to track a person, yet not many people seem to care much about that even though maybe they should.

Anyone using OnStar or a host of other driver-assistance services could have their vehicle remotely disabled. Doing this without permission would put them in legal jeopardy.
