I love my CT and Elon is my hero. TSLA has made me a lot of money. My first M3 in 2018 made me bet big on Tesla. But I don't trust the company AT ALL. Does it matter if the product is great? I would argue it does matter. Think of brands you trust even if you aren't a customer. Costco, Publix, Starbucks, Toyota, In-n-Out, Trader Joes, Fidelity, and some smaller brands you might not have heard of like Technivorm and Luchesse. Tesla is still a young company and has a lot to learn from these brands. They haven't figured out that trust and credibility is of paramount importance. The tone comes comes from the top, so I blame Elon, my hero, for not enforcing it.

Monday musings:

Elon simply does not see the value in sales and marketing departments. In a more perfect world doing great creative, innovative things and putting everything you have into those efforts would be good enough but for Elon and his critics it isn't good enough. The old sales and marketing axiom — Give me a B product and an A marketing plan and I'll give you a winner every time" is unfortunately true ... at least for the short term.

In an instant communication, short attention span, non-truth vetting world, messaging rules. I think Elon thought that by purchasing Twitter, he could control the messaging. But him being "on the spectrum" and a poor communicator especially under stress, he was ill suited for that job. It was I suppose, his Achilles heel.

I used to think damn, if Elon were only better at this or that he could do even greater
things but I was missing the point. Now I realize it was only Elon with all his flaws and erratic brilliance that allowed him to do something no stamped out, MBA laden CEO could ever do and every damn one of them knows it in their heart of hearts. Tesla, and Space X are arguably the best Engineering and Manufacturing Companies in the world and it is all of Elons faults and attributes that allowed that, against all odds, to happen.

I am happy I was around to see these miracles happen. Think about it, one person is responsible for; making the world's first electric cars at scale and for a profit (btw, they can drive themselves). Creating the worlds first orbit capable reusable rockets and then, put them to use in launching a constellation of communication satellites that are providing advanced communications services to the world. He even had time to purchase the worlds largest messaging platform and put his absolute truther claims to the test (his one qualified failure IMHO).

Of course there's much more with XAI, Optimus and Robotaxi still being formulated but Elons list of actual accomplishments puts him in a class by himself. I judge the man by his accomplishments and deeds, not his words. While I do regret many of his words and some of his deeds the truth is without them, he wouldn't be Elon ... would he?

I think the cloth seats are one of the best things about it. I wish I had those in my beast.
If you could afford a Cyberbeast, your desire for cloth seats in it should be easy peasy. :)

Congrats!

The one thing the media don't mention when they talk about the new $60k price is they fail to mention that the $60k price is now cheaper than the originally announced price of $49k for the AWD (after accounting for inflation). After inflation over the past 5-6 years, the AWD would cost $63k.

That's the liberal mainstream media for you. They always report on anything Tesla with a negative slant.

Yes, accounting for inflation the 2026 $59,995 AWD trim is actually cheaper than what was revealed in 2019 at $49,900.

In terms of cost? Sure. But they didn’t exist before (until the dirt cheap rear wheel drive only that nobody’s ever really seen on the road). This is the second truck to have them. There is no stock for me to go and purchase them and stick them in.

What a weird comment. Is your point to suggest that you don’t think I have a cyber beast because that’s a picture of it in my profile.

Either way, weird.

They’ve heard. They’re complaining about Elon’s 10 day threat/edict/unforced message muddling. People don’t really trust Tesla anymore.

When I transferred full self driving to my model S plaid in 2023 I was told that it was a one time offering that would never be offered again. And then literally became the norm for the next several years. Now you can’t buy it.

There’s always this inducement to create sales that ends up being a game how long should I wait when am I gonna get the best deal. I think this is currently backfiring in his face and he’s going to sell fewer of these trucks than he would have if he had just been quiet. He’s already tried to walk it back. It’s disastrous!

It really is ridiculous.
Totally Agree!

Umm, you posted the cloth seats are the "best thing about it " referring I assume to the new AWD. So I guess you've already checked stock and no cloth seats yet available for any price.

As for your assumption of my "point " it was a sentence that stated based upon your buying the 100K+ Cyberbeast you should be able to afford a cloth seat swap out when available. If I was wrong, my apologies because we have all been skint at some point in our lives.

As for your mention of the term weird twice I must say I am not one bit offended or surprised by you calling me weird. You must be a Perry Mason type Lawyer to be able to decipher so much from a single sentence. I'm impressed even if you were wrong.

I’m the kind of lawyer that doesn’t have time for these kind of weird interactions. <CLICK>

I went ahead and bit the bullet today and ordered one as well. I really wanted a Beast, but I have been waiting since Oct for 0% interest to return. I do not want to sell any TSLA to buy the truck. I have a trade in that pretty much pays off the AWD, so I guess that's the route Ill take. I went ahead and used one of my old Cybertruck reservations to order the AWD. It did not apply my $1000 Tesla loyalty to my order, even though I ordered directly in my Tesla app, which has my other 3 Tesla's set up. So Ill have to call customer service today to get that figured out. If Tesla offers 0%, I'll switch my order to Beast right away, and I confirmed with the service center this is possible.
I think this truck is going to be useful in the eventual robotaxi fleet, I kinda wonder if that is the root of why this truck, and why now. I think the 10 days comment is maybe a hint to that.

Neither selling my stock nor ranting. Just stating the facts, as I see them, plainly and rationally. I’ve got a pretty good track record with my predictions here…

His $1 trillion valuation? I’m no Warren Buffett, but to my understanding, that’s a paper valuation and a lot of that is based on market exuberance without a lot of fundamentals backing up the stock price. I have not yet sold my stock, but I’m not buying and we’ll see what things look like in June to see whether I keep holding.
I teach a basic, but oft-missed truism in finance 101:

In a liquid market, every time you decide not to sell an investment, you are making an affirmative decision to BUY that investment at the current strike price.

It belies the concept that we often hear - that no loss or gain is sustained or realized until an investor actually sells. That is a market lie than traps many - the FACT is that whether or not you sell, you have the loss or gain. A ten-second phone call or the click of a mouse is all that is required to have the cash. The relevant question (absent tax considerations) is this:

Would you buy it for cash today at the CURRENT price? If not, then it should be sold, because with any market-liquid investment, you effectively DO already have the cash in hand.

One more time: Every time you decide to hold, you are making a decision to buy it at the strike price. Every time.

Unless Tesla changed their ordering system, I’m pretty sure you’d have to do another order using your own referral code. I had a pre-launch reservation that wasn't available for loyalty credit. Only way to get the credit was to cancel that reservation (they refunded my $100 deposit) and place a new order.
