Epic Fail! - Cyberbeast - Tires shot at 6251 miles!!!

There you go. The Cyberbeast has 123,000 battery that gives 301 miles of range meaning rated spec WH/Mile = 123000 / 301 = 408.63 WH/Mi...

Look at my trip data 5252 miles at 408 WH/Mi almost exactly as rated specs and 1410 miles at 430 WH/Mi only 5% less efficient than rated specs.

This is not the data of a truck that has been driven like a bat out of hell... and yet... the crappy OEM tires are almost shot.

I can beat the shit out of something and still have a good average. Someone is a newbie to tires, and Tesla pays for the stupidity of them. Life is great.

They didn't mention me so unfortunately no appearance fees. But this is good. This is a problem, maybe impacting a small number of trucks, but definitely one.

When you say "And this could be the reason why these tires are not lasting....", you seem so caught up in your own personal saga that you are oblivious to the fact that your tire wear is not what other people who drive harder with the same equipment are experiencing.

I get it, you drive like a grandma lacking urgency, you never leave smooth tarmac and always run the recommended pressures. But your tire wear is vastly different from those of use who drive in a more sporting manner on more rugged surfaces and with a heavier throttle foot. Your tread texture doesn't look smooth, like almost everyone else's tread with the same tires. So there is something unique in your situation.

We don't know what it is, but I will absolutely guarantee you the problem is not that the tread depth is not deep enough as delivered. You have a situation that is different from the rest of us. Why would you blame it on the starting tread depth? We all started with the same tread depth.

The comment WTF Tesla was directed at TESLA shaving 4/32 off the tires per motortrend. I am certain there is something very unique about my situation however starting with a tread depth of 4/32 less didn't help and compounded it. I think its a combination of bad tires and low starting tread depth.

Say original depth was 4/32 more... hypothetically I would be now at 9/32 and 8/32 and would not have noticed the low tread.

P.S. No I do not drive like a Grandma and never will.... but I also don't drive like I am Mario Andretti.

We have one of the very first Cybertrucks driven off the service center's lot in Florida mid-February. It has about 6200 miles of city, highway, and regular offroad driving. AWD version. Plenty of fast acceleration moments when showing off the truck to friends and family, but daily driving is very chill. Our tires look fantastic. I don't have a device to measure them for more accurate data, but to my eyes, they look barely worn and what I'd expect at ~6000 miles.

Sounds like your tires are defective.

Bonus data point is that we have a 2018 Model 3 at 45,500 miles which used to be our road trip car before getting the truck. It's tires need replacing at this point, but shows that we don't abuse them too badly.

Shaving tires is normal practice especially for a vehicle with such power. Would you rather have less tread of no tread when you mash the pedal and it all falls off from the 10,296 lb-ft of torque at the wheels?

Well we shall see… just got brand new Kumho Road Venture AT52 and they have 15/32 starting tread. Let’s see how they perform and how long they last.
