I got the first version of these lights a little over a year ago. They attached with a magnet and I liked them. But before a year passed, the front ones de laminated from the magnet part and they stopped working. Not sure about the back ones.

I was still under warranty (barely) and contacted EVbase on their website. They asked for a video of them not working. Odd, but I did it. Nothing happened.

I then called them and got a call back. They said they would send me another front pair. Cool. Two weeks later, I followed up and they said they couldn't get just the front ones in, would I take a huge discount and get a new set with a new warranty. I did, and I'm glad.

The new version attaches with 3m tape and a removable bracket. Much easier to get out and charge. Also, they now charge with USB C instead of micro USB.

The install video goes fast but I understand now that the IR paper is to preserve battery. The carbon fiber look goes well with my accessories too.

New product seems much better designed but more important to me, EVbase stands behind their stuff.

Agree. They are better. One thing that is weird about the usb-c is that it only charges if you plug it into a usb-a with a usb-a to usb-c cable. It does not work if you plug into a usb-c like say the plugs in your truck or your modern phone charger or the usb-c on a power station.
Only telling you this because it took me some figuring out. Was almost sure there was something wrong with them.
They look nice in your truck

I just had one stop working too and they also told me to send a video. Still waiting for a reply.

Just want to say - I ordered a set of the evbase sill "protector" lights just over a month ago (end of Aug 2025).. and I do really like them, I think they look great, and work well if you put on the reflective tape (which is very easy).

That being said - I was super confused when I got them, as mine were magnetic and not stick-on with 2 separate pieces ... the video on their site indicated that there was two pieces, not a magnet. And, looking over their site now, it still references magnets sometimes, and just "peel and stick" in other places.. . I wish it was more clear, and that they would only be sending out the non-magnet ones?

Mainly because .. the idea that they "protect" .. is kinda not correct. They slide off so easily if you hit them with your foot. If you don't hit them, so far for me they stay in place. But, the magnets aren't super strong so they can slide off if hit...

Still, I like them, I just wish it was more clear...

I agree about the fragility of them.
I had some clear ppf laying about so I just covered the tops of them in that.

Pretty sure they drop ship, I see similar products elsewhere. So, you may have gotten oldu stock or maybe they just changed over? The magnets were easy to remove and charge looks like maybe the battery swelled on mine, not sure what else would have caused them to break.

I have had 4 of these units FAIL, 3 of the long ones and 1 of the shorter ones.

I have received replacement for 2 of the long ones but they always want me to pay shipping and It takes 2 months to get a replacement.

What I suspect is happening is that water is getting into them when I take the truck to the car wash but I shouldn't have to remove them every time I wash tye truck.

IMHO these are garbage until they are water tight and hood up to normal use.

I bought from another vendor; one unit failed upon receiving the rest gave me a few months of life. I opened one up and workmanship is very poor. Soldering from trade school 101.
