But the beast mode, is insanely priced imo. An extra 30k for an even faster truck that is already insanely fast, but less range? Crazy to me.

I reserved a Model X during the announcement and waited years to configure. Finally came time and got a low vin #807. I was younger and it was my first BEV/Tesla so I thought, I'll save some money and get the P90D with normal sound instead of the P90DL with upgraded sound. Who needs .6 seconds less from 0-60 anyways? Thing already goes 0-60 in 3.8s. At the time, Tesla had an option for a battery pack upgrade after purchase, which disappeared before I could do it. Well now that I'm older and have more fun money, I'm gonna get that Cyberbeast because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog gonnit, people like me.

I'm guessing that I'm not the only one confused about the "Order Now"- probably most of us have a four year old reservation that we still can't do anything with (we'll be in touch when we're ready for you to configure). I assume there's no need to place another order today

Buy All-Wheel for now, get a much better Cyberbeast in 3-4 years. No extender is required by that time.

I would not buy it right now, the range is not acceptable for RV towing, the Range extender would likely cost about 25-30 grand in AU, and still not get me my 500 miles.

However, a chance the CT might be available in AU in 26/27, and by then the standard range is increased... or 600+ with an extender... in which case all boxes are ticked.

Factoring in inflation, I have taken the advertised cost from 2021 to today's value :

Of course, it's not 500 miles, but it's not 300 miles either.

I need 500 miles.. so i wait for 4680 improvement.

For others, 350 miles is as good as 500, and the price likely hits their realistic expectation.

I think we should keep in mind the specs will improve, but the price is likely always going to be affected by time.

I would actually strongly advise anyone that wants to cancel should.

Theres zero chance that > 600k preorders get filled now that pricing is known and the more cancellations, the more downward price pressure exists. Therefore if you don’t like the price, get your $100 back, wait on demand forced price decreases to occur and come back around unless the competition compels you to go elsewhere.

The HODL strategy is poor guidance in this case imo

Firstly there is absolutely no reason for a knee jerk reaction to cancel the order, today or Monday, or next month/year makes no difference, except that people can now take their time to decide how they will want to proceed. I never said to hold until you get it, just not do so in haste, and let some more details come through before doing so, then decide.

This is doubly so, if as you say the order line is still intact, because some might have a good position with their $100 deposit.

The other question is just how many people do you think are taking this threads advice?

I'm only addressing the regulars here, and as such they don't form a big enough slice of the order pie to achieve ANY negative demand pricing pressure on Tesla if they cancel their order now.

So for them I say wait, figure out what you want, with new information that comes to hand.

You can't even loose the refundable $100 atm, so are you really that desperate for cash that you would risk to loose your "potential" place in line.

I think that is a more reasonable approach for our particular group size.

Sure if I had 165million X followers you could argue the difference.

I might be "hot stuff", but I doubt I've made a impression on even a thousand people, in the 4 years here, and this thread even less. ?

Many will want their money back as promises have not been honored. This product is now in a very high end lux segment out of reach for most. Even the maybe eventual $60K with RWD, will not sell well / get a MY with a trailer

So if "I" was Tesla, and had a few years worth of demand backlog in orders, and were pretty confident we're staring down the barrel of another economic downturn and recession because of high interest and high inflation, I too would initially offer the CT at a higher price, and then drop it as I approach ROI. Obviously as Tesla I can't say this out loud otherwise everyone would wait, negating the effect.

That also means that by the time your number is up, if you are a first day reservation, you're likely to be heading towards a lower price before you get your hands on one anyway.

It's not like any of us will get one tomorrow, or this year, most not even in 6 months from now.

They cut some $35k from the plaid since they released it 18months ago.

So what is the rush for that single Benjamín? You could never "invest" it by itself for a better more meaningful return anyway.

I'm buying. Considering production ramp rates and how far out the configuration day is for many reservations, a lot of people will have time to think (and save up money) for the Cybertruck purchase day if they choose to.

Many of those who are so worried about today's prices don't even have a stake in it because it could be a year or more before they are even offered to configure a purchase anyway.

Considering the materials, technology, performance, and long term cost of ownership the price is well worth it for any trim IMO, if one is willing to evaluate the choice as the investment it really is.

I'm trying to encourage the sharing of long term ownership and enjoyment. If I were taking a selfish approach I'd be quiet or even nudge people to cancel, because that would mean I'd get mine even sooner. But some will always focus only short term or see a glass as half empty.

So as I continue to adjust and process the price on the Dual CT and my consideration to purchase or not I have put some thought into the value of Powershare.

I am building a new home starting fall 2024 after 24 years in my current home. The new home will have a great southern exposure and I am planning for a solar system (from who I will lean on @SolarWizard) which will include the new Powerwall 3's and gateway. The home will need 3 powerwalls. Powerwall 2 is $8400 for 13.5 kWh.

With Powershare I would think I can now do one wall and use the CT to subliment the other 2. This also allows me to have a wall in place to run the home if I need to use or charge the CT.

This saves me $16,800. Now this seems like a better proposition. I could use some help @SolarWizard to flush this out and if I am looking at this right.

If this is correct I now can look at the CT as 79,900 minus 7500 (72,400) minus 16,800 which looks like 55,600.

If correct this looks like a better proposition and one I would consider.

Why keep a deposit on something you can’t afford?
Those suggesting more time to save should consult a financial planner.

I actually put in another order yesterday for my parents. They were looking at the MX, once we get a chance to test drive we'll decide on the X or Cybertruck all-wheel drive.

I am going with the all-wheel drive for myself, likely trading my model 3 LR in for it.
