Had a 2017 Volt before I bought my SR+, same exact issue. Had to travel 40 miles into a different state in order to get service on the damn thing. Granted, most of the service was covered by the Voltec warranty (including getting a Shift-To-Park error 3 times in a 2 year period), but the $500 spent to upgrade the software on the thing to diagnose an ignition problem rankled my testicles.
Did as much work as I could on my own with oil, plugs, wires, suspension, rotations, and interior components, but when it came to anything else it didn't give you a choice. It did what I bought it for well (commuter capable of hauling servers, switches, and the occasional boxed toilet) but that sucker could be a pain too.
That experience really puts me off of looking at the Silverado EV.
How did this discussion turn so quickly from the topic of the assembly line to service and dealerships?
I'm far more interested in the production volume of the F150 Lightning. I didn't see it in the video but I've heard elsewhere that Ford is only planning to build 150k/yr and that's nowhere near enough to satisfy demand.
Locally, there are 75 reservation holders for the Lightning, but the dealership is only going to get 3 (three!) for this year, starting in a few months.
I've heard guesstimates (based on Elon's comments) that Tesla plans to build 500k Cybertrucks per year.
Does anyone think the Ford "Rogue" plant can increase production to that level?
