I just picked up my CB about a week and a half ago. I have only known it to have the 3 rear camera options (.5x, 1x, and 1.25x) and think they work great for different use cases/speeds. I would love it if they were adaptively dynamic and would automatically switch or change based on speed. I like the .5x at low speeds (let’s say below 50km/h or 30mph) and I like the 1.25x when I’m at highway speeds (at or above 80 km/h or 50 mph). It would be great it would change based of my speed. Anyone else agree/disagree?

Always nice to have options for things like this as long as they can be set on or off to fit ones desires. Like the lower volume on reverse or auto low suspension.

That's a good idea, but would need a camera like on your phone rather than the fairly bulletproof (not literally) version they're using on the back.

I like the add-ons where a highway-style camera is added above the bed, or attached to the load to feed to the rear mirror.

Tesla avoids add-ons like that but it would be nice if they allowed support without gouging the developers.

But they already have the 3 options plus the pinch option. The OP is only saying that Tesla could offer a ‘dynamic zoom’ option pretty easily. Personally, I changed it to maximum zoom (1.25x) and left it there because I don’t want to mess with it.

It's true, but you're giving up pixels when you do that.

True enough. The digital zoom is nowhere near as clear. This is why I am looking for a non-Tesla rearview camera solution; I want both a higher resolution and a smaller field of view. And I want mine displayed in a rearview mirror :) I am not expecting to have my solution soon.

I think the next we have coming to us is ultrawide view from the rear and repeater cameras combined.

They have to make it fit and make sense for the UI and UX.

This idea would just need a software add-on. It wouldn’t need any changes to the current hardware.

Have you checked out Hansshow option? Seems to be a contender!

Just among the currently available views? Because it's low resolution at the current magnification.

-Crissa
It’s good enough. I like the .5 for low speeds because it gives me a view of Blindspots so when I’m changing lanes on narrow roads, it’s very helpful. And then at high speeds the zoom in lets me see fast approaching vehicles. I don’t really need the resolution to get any better because I’m just looking for approaching objects. Don’t get me wrong better resolution would be nice. But I’m fine with the current resolution of the 1.25.

I have not. What’s the link? To be honest my request is for them to add this as a free software feature. It’s not a big enough issue for me personally that I would want to spend any money on this.

Yeah, that’s related, but I think that’s a different thing. I don’t mind having the rearview camera feed on the screen. And I don’t mind that the rearview mirror is kind of useless. My feature request was more so enhancing the current software rather than looking for a paid solution for additional hardware.
