Placed my order for AWD FS on Feb 23, and though I’ve been checking every day for a VIN, I figured it would be a long while but couldn’t help myself from looking anyway.

Well, I checked tonight and I got a VIN!!! I had to rub my eyes to make sure I was seeing right!! It’s only been 25 days since ordering, and I know there are people who are 60 days out still waiting for a VIN.

I wonder if it had anything to do with payment choice? When I ordered, I chose to pay by Tesla loan, but wasn’t going to start the application process til I got the VIN. This weekend I checked on interest rates and found my own personal loan at a great rate and just switched the Cybertruck payment option to pay in full. And, voila, the next day, today, I get my VIN! Probably coincidence, but….?

SF Bay Area, CA, (and not a Tesla employee or YouTuber) ….WOW now I’m getting excited again!
Happy for you but this just is confusing. My order is a full 5 weeks ahead of yours and no VIN. It is like they are pulling orders out of a CA hat and many other states have fallen on the floor. Yesterday I messaged a guy in NC and he was a full month ahead of me and he just got his VIN on Sunday.

Meadow, I saw on another thread the same situation where someone had changed their payment to cash, no financing, and they also got their VIN quickly after that. People were speculating whether that might matter, but it also may be just coincidence. I'm sure it's easier and cost effective for Tesla to fill up a car carrier shipment of trucks bound for the same area, since CA seems to have the most orders...but there are also others in CA who are still waiting too. Hard to say...Good luck and hope you get your VIN soon.

Well I am cash and will keep it that way. It just seems to me that there is no pattern other than those have jumped line and CA get priority. I did NOT want a super early one because I would really like for them to hit their stride. But, on the other hand, we have some towing trips this summer and I would like to shake it down before that. One other comrade in waiting said he was tired for the line jumpers to be posting so many videos on YouTube. Yeah ... I get that too.
I jumped through the DirtyTesla one yesterday for his trip from MI to FL and really thought the content was weak. Just them driving and driving and saying how great it was. I never saw any specifics about Watts per mile and charging time was really confusing. He just seemed so excited and rushed to post.
I want a chart of miles per KW and conditions and charging speeds and such.
We will be towing and planning a camping trip over a long distance and how far you can really go. TFL did some useless ones as they just see how MUCH they can use. They had an X using almost 2kw per mile towing. What good is that? Floored up a 6+% grade.
There is one airstream video that was excellent and encouraged me that we will be just over 500 watts per mile towing IF we drive under 60 mph. Most that I am seeing are in the low 400's after they get past the showing off and hotroding that is typical the first week or more.
I guess just the total lack of solid info from Tesla and all the speculation is just a waste of time.
Seeing CA people get theirs a month or more before me and then I see others that have waited 3 months AFTER they get a VIN. But, the linebreakers get theirs right away. Just frustrating!

they posted a screenshot of their Tessy app each time they plugged in so you could see the chargeing curve, but they were routinely arriving at the SC with over 20% remaining so the curve isnt that great

I checked my VIN with my Tesla dealer and he says they expect delivery on Saturday and with checking and detailing, I might be able to pick up on Tuesday...IF, and that's an IF, that would be 33 days from ordering to pick up. I'm not a line jumper, had RN11288xx placed the night of the reveal, not a stockholder or anything - just ordered when I got my invite and followed the Tesla app prompts. Maybe someone canceled and I am in the right location? Who knows.

2/27 order but Cyber Beast and in Colorado (1 delivery out of 50 orders fulfilled and think it was a YouTuber)....so guessing i'm going to be a while, but still check app constantly! Did do the stock holder program that closes on the 22nd - so we'll see if that can improve timing any?

Well, I think CA does matter. I am in VA.
My reservation is RN11284XX which is lower than yours and I ordered on 1/18 and that makes 2 months and no VIN. So here is a clear case for everyone to see.

CA can have a higher Reservation and later order and still get delivered faster.

This is NOT a queue.

Maybe they figured out how to save $500 on shipping and make that into profit or something like that. Who Knows!

Yes, you might assume from my own experience that there is an advantage to being in CA, but it's not accurate - there is an entire thread on this board of Northern CA orders from December on, who have not even received their VINS yet. Most are AWD, not Cyberbeasts and are from the Bay Area, just like me. They are just as frustrated, especially seeing others nearby getting VINS and taking delivery. There must be another factor we don't know about, the logistics are too complicated to be doing this randomly.

I suspect that the real VIN allocation process is something like this:

it is a queue, actually 50 queues. CA does their own thing your RN compared to a CA RN means nothing you only care what happens in your State Queue.

I know a guy locally who configured his in January and just took delivery last weekend. I'm hoping that means that most of us February folks get theirs in the next month or so

Just got a VIN! Order placed Feb 13. Qualified for Long-term shareholder. Fun times.

Whoa nice! I would have qualified but I only have 300 shares, not 500. But I’ve had them long enough ?

Yea, honestly who knows if the shares even helped. 51 days to a VIN isn't exactly early delivery, but I'll take it! Beats the heck out of 90+.
