That is only your personal projection.

No one knows how long it will take to burn through existing reservations up to any particular point or how the Cybertruck pricing will change over time, not even Elon knows that.

But I bet he would disagree the scenario you have projected is the most likely. Of course, that's just my opinion.
So to be clear...
Actually, It's NOT a personal opinion, rather.. It is my PROFESSIONAL opinion.
I get paid to figure things out that others can't. And do so objectively based on data points and various scenarios.

While my projection isn't Nostradamus, I am as close as you are going to get. Yes!! I am the guy someone like Elon asks "..where will we be if X, Y and Z"??

Cheers!

I had the same thought. The people at the delivery center actually told me that my thousand dollars was not applicable to a non foundation model. I ended up taking delivery of a Foundation model anyway. It's more than I wanted to pay but its not a bad deal if you planned up upgrading the wheels, sound system and self driving anyway.

They will be selling the Foundation Series but it wont be your turn for 2~3 Years. Oh by then the economy will be better and the price hike will be in place for inflation. You may save $3~5K from the current price, and that's because you opt not to take the FSD.

That's the reality!

Cheers!

Life is short.. I may not be around in 2 yrs. Money can be earned, but money can't buy me time.

Cheers!!

I'm going to assume you meant they won't be selling foundation series? Because we already know they're going to be selling non FS soon. And since we know there will be a high production rate it's weird that you're telling anyone that they will have to wait 2 years.

To me it sounds like you don't want to believe that your mental gymnastics of, if I don't buy this now I may never get it were just you trying to convince yourself to get the FS and now that the non FS is coming and you're still alive youre in denial?

Some people can afford to yolo and some people would rather live in a way that suits them. Happy wife happy life.

Even if OP died in 2 years, his wife probs won't (statistically)

Oh I bet youre one of those analysts who doesn't understand FSD lol

Did Elon ask you about it before he said they're starting next quarter and targeting huge run rates by the end of this year? Lolol

What I am finding is waiting for 9-18 months extra for no extra options (and not being eligible for the tax credit) is like 250-$300 /month. Add any options and the AWD creeps into the mid 80k’s quickly (especially if you have a wrap and tint).

Getting to be able to have delivery this summer is as logical as waiting for 18 months for the non-FS.

If not now, it’s better to wait 3-4 years for the demand to cool, costs to get better and the truck being somewhere in the 60k’s.. which I think they will get to.
That is my rationale for me (not necessarily anyone else)… I still haven’t made my decision after getting invite a couple days ago…

If we had a real way to know how long waiting might take them we could do some of those calculations for sure.

That's also time to save up, time for interest rates to possibly drop, time for new features and improvements to come to the truck etc

You brought up good points and it is true.. it is 6 and 1/2 dozen getting it now vs. 18 months (or so) for NFS.

The part I think you need to consider "wait 3-4 years for the demand to cool, costs to get better and the truck being somewhere in the 60k’s.." Is this...

-Are you the same guy that would wait 3~4 yrs for the Apple iPhone 12 to drop in price (from $1,200.00 to say $600) because its a better deal , but not the latest and great shinning thing out there?

-OK, so you say that thing are different between a $1,200 phone vs a $100,000 car. Well.. let me ask you this question.. Are you the guy who would buy a new Model X today for $80K ? Its a great cool car but not the latest toy from Elon's toy box.

I hope you get my point—things to consider.

BTW, a wrap here in Oregon only costs about $2,500 for CT, so don't pay more! :-D

Cheers!!

Totally.. I could see a future with a president getting elected and interest rates going down… but there will ALWAYS be new features and reasons for waiting on teslas.. trust me, I could easy make enough reasons for not buying one and waiting

supply and demand will always be a force, and since production will continue, those who wait will pay less. Maybe that is in 6 months when the first cybertrucks are eligible to be sold. Maybe its 12 months as production increases.
Sometimes your gut feeling is good reason to wait - you don’t want the constant reminder of an expensive decision on a depreciating asset sitting in driveway

(coming from CT owner who took delivery in Feb 2024 and knowing well that the value will prolly be 50% of purchase price in the near future).

Are you sure the 1K deposit can be applied to non-FS? If so, I would do the same thing as you did as I have the same thinking as you.

I was so thrilled to get an invitation to order a CT Foundation that I immediately placed my order! After some reflection and mainly talking to my wife, realized I might have acted too soon.
I tried to call Tesla to see what my options were, but couldn’t get any person on the phone (after many tries). I left several messages to call me back, but no response. Today I drove to the nearest service center to talk to a real person. It was 130 miles each way. They were very helpful. They put my order on hold until December. That way I kept my $100 & $1000 deposits and didn’t have to place a new order for CT and go to end of the line. Hopefully by then they will be selling only the regular CT’s without all extra Foundation stuff I don’t want or need. I can renew the hold 4 more times if necessary to keep my place in line and not have to buy the Foundation Series
I did the exact same thing.

Happy wife, happy life. My wife gave me the eye roll when I got mine. She wanted nothing to do with it. Until I gave her a ride… now she asks to go in it all the time. We went on a trip through the San Juan mountains last weekend and I told her we were taking the F350. She looked at me with that look and said “I was kinda hoping we would take the cybertruck.”. I asked “So you like it?”. “Oh yes!”, she responded. Talk about a 180.

Moral of the story, buy it and she may come around and then before you know it, she will be driving it all the time and you will end up driving her car. Oh wait….

I passed on the FS option, I originally reserved on 7/19/20. I feel like they are flying down the list since there is a high rate of people passing on the FS option. I rather wait for the Cyberbeast at the non FS pricing, and honestly after waiting so long, I don’t care if it’s another 1-2 years.
