Has anyone had this issue… I went to open the funk and it seemed to only partially unlatch, the frunk is now ajar yet will not fully unlatch and open.

I press the button to close the frunk and just get a double beep.

Try pressing down on the frunk to manually close it and it just pops back up ajar without latching.

Vehicle speed is limited to less than city road limits while frunk is ajar, SC is a 2 hour highway drive away?

Anyone have this issue?
Any short term fix/trick to get this thing capable of highway speeds?

***UPDATES***
-After several rounds of pressing on the button to open/close the front trunk it finally released then closed and latched.

-Provided SC with the date and time of these failures and they diagnosed an issue with the switch, new one on order and will hopefully resolve the situation.

thats a new one, was there anything in the frunk that could be keeping it from locking closed?

I have had this exact problem just yesterday. Out of nowhere. I was able to get the locking mechanism to unlatch, as while the frunk was open, the mechanism is staying in the latched (locked) position. I was able to move it with my finger after a while, then when I brought the frunk down slowly and mindfully with my hand, I had to help nudge it into the receiver. I set a service appt, I am traveling and it wanted me to approve a 120-dollar estimate, which I won't do, as to me, this is a warranty issue. I'll leave it closed with certain things inside until I can go to my local Tesla where I know the guys well and have it fixed.

A real drag when you’re on the road! And ridiculous situation if there is something vital stored there!

Thanks for the tips! I cooled down and went back out after multiple series of attempts and all of a sudden it unlatched and seems to function as intended…wtf ?‍♂

Booked a SC visit and hoping they can diagnose the issue and resolve it!

So I took multiple videos of the issue along with pictures of the on screen errors & messages, noted the time and dates of the failures and sent it in to tesla repair.

They were diagnosed an issue with the switch and have ordered the part and set up a mobile repair appointment. Hopefully this resolves the situation!

Glad to have a quick SC team, still upset that I have run into so many different issues requiring repair. They don’t have a lemon law where I am, but if there was I’m thinking I would have been able to return or exchange this CT.

Same issue w/ me. During yesterday's hot weather, frunk didn't fully unlatch. Unable to close or open, multiple resets, new firmware update... nothing. 30+ days wait time for Service Center appointment.

Checked out the Service Manual and it shows how to manually release the frunk. Already removed the front center applique and disconnected the frunk switch (2025 model has a different type of connector w/ a grey locking tab). Going to see if I can manually unlatch it w/o having to drill a large hole to fish in a tool to release the latch.

My frunk just did this 15 minutes ago. Hit the button, it clicked open then made a thunk sound, still latched, then a 2-3 seconds later it opened with another thunk sound. It seemed to close normally. I guess I will brave the heat again and try it again.

Was able to manually release the frunk w/ the directions in the Service Manual. Didn't need to drill a hole, but used a borescope to find the lever and push it to trigger the latch mechanism. This seemed to re-synch the state of the frunk latch and the frunk closed itself.

Tesla should consider modifying the latch design w/ an easier manual release or add addt'l software feature within the Service mode to trigger the latch actuator motor or reset the state of the frunk latch.

Follow up… the frunk worked fine, however we had some serious sun and heat, frunk got stuck again! Had to remove the front panel to trigger the latch to release the frunk. It clearly has issues with the latch and heat.

Mine was struggling to open a while back. Took it for service and they replaced the 2 hood struts. Part # STRUT(1811946-00-D).

Different issue. Had my frunk open for an extended period of time. Approached the truck at some point to find the frunk lid sagging, less than half ajar, was non responsive to button commands.
I manually lifted it to max height and it responded to commands after that. Not sure if the motor/strut goes to sleep after a certain time period. Been working fine since. Will keep an eye on it

Ambient temperatures in the low 50s and frunk had no issues opening and closing multiple times.

SOLVED FOR ME: I had this issue this morning. I played 50 times with the button just below the hood to try to convince the frunk to open, without success.

What worked: after reading other comments, I did several ‘double click’ on that button, with different pause between the clicks. And once, it opened! So the double-click with a 1 second pause between the clicks worked, the frunk unlatched and opened. With a screw driver, I rotated to latch in good position, then I slowly push the frunk closed.

Not off to could drive,I will test it when closed to a Tesla service center… to see if a switch is defective.
