So I've been getting a lot of mixed reviews regarding tinting the front windshield for the CT. There are vendors that will do it and there are some that don't want to touch the liability associated with the tinting. Obviously it can be done and there are many people doing it, but due to the thickness of the glass, the size, I've been advised that it creates a lot of heat and can cause the windshield to crack. I've also been advised that a new windshield is about 6 months backordered and $4,000 to replace.

Any feedback or insights would be appreciated. I've tinted all my windows with 15% XPEL Ceramic tint already, but the front windshield is really bothering me as I live in sunny Los Angeles, CA and it can get really hot.

Thank you in advance for the feedback.

I would recommend you use the search feature here on the forums. There are probably no less than 6 other threads on this exact topic. FWIW, I've read them all and don't recall a single person who has experienced cracking. Consensus seems to be: make sure you use a high-quality ceramic film with high heat rejection.

I took delivery on 05/30 and had the glass tinted, including the windshield, on 05/31. I’m in SoCal.

The difference in heat was dramatic.

I know this is N=1, but no issues at all. FS AWD.

BTW, I used TMS Tinting in Anaheim https://www.tmstintingoc.com/

They did an awesome job.

I have mine done with 50% ceramic tint so no issues it's been about 2 months temps have been averaging in high 90's

100% worth it. For heat and privacy reasons. I did 35% Lumar Ceramic. 5% sides. 5% sunroof (legit can’t even see out of it now lol) but I love it all. It’s a cave in my cyber. People have NO clue I’m sitting in it and I love to film people come right up to the windows looking in or taking pictures and they have no idea I’m there. That privacy is SAFER. If someone doesn’t know you’re in a vehicle you’re less likely to ever be messed with. One thing that sucks when they did windshield. They put body weight on my dash and now moving the AC vents makes an audible grinding noise. I set up service to hopefully fix it. But tint on windshield is a must. Just go somewhere where they have done a lot of them

Same here. I highly recommend tinting it. I've done it on all my cars and never had an issue.

I bought some expensive sunshades for all windows, and they barely keep the interior cooler, its' 129 inside with them, and was 131-141 without.
Do you know what kind of interior temps you get when the truck sits outside all day, because even the windshield sunshade is a pain in the azz
