That’s one of the best parts of my job. Almost everyone I deal with is having the worst day of their life. You can only go up from there. Takes minimal effort to make a big improvement for them. 😁
It’s like the first girl you date after a terrible marriage. She doesn’t even have to try that hard.
This is true, but doesn't the loss get to you after a while? The fact that you can't save them all? Sorry, didn't mean to derail the thread - once again. I'm just curious

Wrong topic... for most of us.
Look! This is just the first “ass-less chaps” gif that came up from my Google search, and I’m thankful that that’s all it was! I’m not searching any farther/further (very conflicted here about which is correct) than that! I feel like this is about as safe as that’s going to get!!!

So, you’re welcome!

LOL! I've used the "Ass-less" chaps. My Dad likes to correct me with the "All chaps are ass-less".
Even British chaps? :p

Sure, sure.... We all believe that story and definitely don't think you have a hard drive full of ass-less chaps pics.

Yes it does. It can be very frustrating. Being marinated in tragedy is also very hard. There is a lot of injustice. Seems sometimes like being a methy douchebag who perpetrates violent crimes on others is a positive prognostic factor and being an innocent teenager who hasn’t had a chance to live yet is a negative one. Easy way to get jaded.
I try and remind myself I wasn’t involved in what happened to them and perhaps most importantly, I swing as hard as I can for the fences for all of them. No questions asked. As long as I’m doing that, I feel mostly ok about it. I also get a lot of gratification out of training residents and that sort of thing and I try alternate it with less emotionally intense icu weeks. (Ridiculous right?, icu is a break)
It’s hard not to take the bad energy home to family. though. That actually takes effort.
If I’m being honest that’s one of the main reasons I wanted free supercharging. I’ve had it for a very long time in the x and it’s a big part of my culture; my ritual. There is a supercharger on my way home from work and I stop there to clear my head. Think about something else. Get out of surgeon mode and into dad mode.
I even installed a shower between the garage and the house. I literally wash it all off before I go inside to my family. That helps.

Ehh throw a white coat over the scrubs, problem solved. Honestly, how often did you have the tie cleaned when you were wearing it? Most docs would take it off and throw it over the back of their chair and put it right back on the next day. They did a study on it and they were gross..
Ties look nice but a petri dish.

Oh yeah. You ever seen those bacterial count maps? Tie tips and remote controls are some of the worst offenders. You know what else is shockingly gross on those? The push handles for the purell dispensers. They should absolutely all be sensor operated.

You a Buddhist @dalton108? Or just a Lao Tzu fan?
I am a Methodist by rearing, but as a Shifu and 35+ year Chinese martial artist (Northern Shaolin), I also hold a priesthood in Taoism/Zen Buddhism. I lean far more heavily towards Taoism than Buddhism.

So, what you're telling me is I shouldn't be licking the hotel remote, but maybe the tops of sanitizer bottles as long as I get a bit of the sanitizer too.....
