An FSD driver/user cannot blame FSD as it is a supervised system. The driver is always responsible. Always.

There is more oddity about this story.

Accident happened on Feb 27. He is just now reporting it on Reddit a few days ago.

Had not heard back from Tesla. Just submitted to Tesla to get the data yesterday. 3 months later. Hmmm.

Insurance paid off his lease.

On 13.2.8, but no B pillar footage.

No corrective response from driver or the car (that I could tell) in about 2.5 s from road to impact.

There's a flurry of these supposed failures now. Since it's pretty easy to fake swerving into something, AND I use FSD every day without these things happening, I'm a bit suspicious of an organized anti-Tesla/FSD campaign. The timing, being just before more attention will be on FSD with the Robotaxi going live stuff, is kind of suspect.

Unless the AIs have chosen who they want to take out of the gene pool, and they're mostly reddit users...

He had to be pressing the accelerator for it to do that. Maybe he was trying to push it to go faster than FSD normally goes? Then it swerved for the shadow and he drove it into the tree.

You will see much more of this as Tesla builds the Robotaxi fleet.

Rest assured, the telemetry they keep logged for this kind of thing will set the record straight every time. I doubt very seriously this is a case where FSD caused this collision. It simply doesn't make any sense.

My CT, which allegedly has a far inferior version of FSD, has never done anything like this. Not even close. So I call shenanigans.

So he (or something) torqued the wheel left too hard and overrode FSD.

I wonder if there’s any way of knowing if attention monitoring was active or if he was playing the steering wheel nag game at the time.

I also wonder if he was using one of those stupid devices that applies constant pressure to the wheel in hopes of fooling FSD that your hands are on it.
