FSD can't reduce speed without disengaging?

ASSO is totally overrated.
Who rates it highly? It was OK for about 5 minutes, until bad speed limit map data had me going 25 in a 45, many times, on different roads. Now I just set it to 80 everywhere regardless of speed limit and it does OK with some throttle nudging. Just wish they'd make MAX work like it used to!

Well, when you turn it off, the car tells you to turn it on and how. Idk, I just feel like Tesla overrates it. They're going to be adding an improved one and taking away ASSO in a future update.

Had there been a person behind me, they would have considered themselves "brake checked".

Also, my Model 3 has done this to me a few times. It's an issue across the board that needs to be corrected.
True, the brake lights will come on when FSD slows down. And if someone was tailgating, it might seem like you were brake checking them

I'm speaking from experience too, and I don't think the phrase "slamming on the brakes" means what you think it does. I used to have to hover my foot over the accelerator, but I found that was no longer necessary starting over a year ago.

Turn off Automatic Set Speed Offset, then the scroll wheel will work.
Yep, I turned off Automatic Set Speed Offset almost as soon as it was released.

It seems some of us have different settings from others.

The Speed setting on the FSD has been disappointing to say the least. I have to constantly press the gas pedal, to keep it going the speed I have the Max set to(I know it Max only means that's the fastest it'll go, but if no-one is around and its within the speed limit, it should go that speed.). But there are settings that might help with it not decreasing for speed limit changes. Check to see if you have a percentage set on the speed difference, and as others have said check to make sure you don't have Auto Speed set.

Now my theory on how it chooses a speed. I saw a video not to long ago, on how to avoid traffic jams. This video was very informative, and made a lot of sense and did lots of tests, but essentially all that needs to be done, is keep the distance in front of you equal to the distance behind you. if everyone does that, traffic jams just stop. (obviously not tailgating if someone behind you tailgates you, that's why everyone has to follow this rule.) I think that's what theCT is trying to do, if traffic is heavy and there is someone behind me, it'll follow at a much better, 3 second gap, but if the person behind me (doesn't know how to drive and), has a 10- 15 second gap, it'll put me pretty close to the middle of that gap, forcing a 10 -15 second gap in front of me. I could be wrong, but I think that's what is happening. Anyone else noticing this behavior.

Yes, and that's why most of us don't use it at all. It's a new feature that's half-baked.

But don't underestimate how quickly that feature can improve.

I still have to keep my foot ready to press the accelerator, but yeah the scenarios in which I need to apply it seem to be getting more rare.

Lastly, and because I don't think this merits its own thread...FSD follows way too closely to other vehicles to the point where I frequently disengage it and pull back a little bit because I'd be upset if someone were riding my ass the way my truck is doing it to others on FSD.

Is anyone else encountering any of this?
Yes. It is inconsistent. Some times it will follow at a safe distance and other times it is way too close. Have not figured out the common factor. This and not keeping its lane/cutting corners when turning are the #1 and #2 reason for kicking it out of FSD for me.

This is why I love this forum. I had no idea. Partly because the phrasing of some of these settings is confusing. There are so many better ways to describe this setting. Thank you!
