They are trying to pull all the levers they have to increase demand. Thinking of just saying - “give me my hundy back and when I want to buy, I will do so”.

But if you try to get that $7,000 price on a new vehicle they won't honor it.............

Nope becuase it’s for Early reservation holders. Makes perfect sense a new order is not a ERH.

Wow, that’s not good, I was told months ago that tesla wouldn’t honor the $7k for FSD anymore and wanted to give back my $100.

Didn’t believed them, as it still showed $7,000 for FSD on my Configure’s page?

Guess that’s changed. Tesla better give me my $18 interest on top of my $100 for six years holding my money. LOL!

Ahhhh, still too much! ???

Can confirm, I received this letter today.

However, as the truck even with the tax rebate is $15k more than my original reservation it's not much of a threat.

Unfortunately, my spouse remains out of work due to the economic downturn and reduction in research grants. So we're not in the market, either.

I've taken the money I saved up for the truck and put it into an account to pay our bills automatically instead.

Wouldn't adding the FSD option to the order take it over the $80,000 MSRP threshold for the $7500 federal tax credit? I'm not so sure this is much of an incentive. Saving $1000, but losing $7500 of tax credit, provided you qualify, isn't going to move the needle much.

No, it wouldn't. Software doesn’t count towards MSRP/tax incentives.

Given that the standard FSD price of $8k is only $1k off the early reservation price, I'm not too bummed about this decision. I did officially cancel my reservation today, though. While I would love to own a cybertruck one day and can more than afford to buy one today, I cannot bring myself to pay brand new sticker price for one. When the cybertruck was first announced and I plopped down $100 in December of 2019, the price point discussed was so promising and attractive.

I'll continue to watch trends, even for used vehicles, and consider possibilities in the future.

I had no plans to actually buy FSD, I reserved it because I figured they would deliver to FSD holders first and at that time I was willing to pay the $7k to move a little ahead in line.

Much has changed since then.

The price of the truck skyrocketed, and it didn't meet the tech specs.

Look, 300 miles of range is fine for my Model Y. It's not OK for a truck. I need a truck that can haul 2000 pounds of gear and an 8000 pound lift. I live in the intermountain west where highway stops are few and far between. I actually do need the range, especially given the horrid charging curve.

Increasing the price of FSD will have no bearing on my purchase decision. Neither will the removal of tax credits, or offering a lower priced, trimmed down truck.

They need to fix it to have somewhat close the original specs.

I don't mind paying 80-100k for the truck that was promised at 50-70k, but it had better live up to the hype and it hasn't.
