On Friday, I had the truck in fsd and was pulling into a supercharger. I heard rumors that it would find an empty spot automatically and that's what it seemed like it was doing so I let it keep going. It rammed the front into a grey post! I slammed the brake so the damage wasn't huge but it damaged the front fender and maybe a bit of the front camera. From the video it was clear that it was unable to see the pole. I wonder if this will happen to all cybertrucks at this super charger in Rochester WA.

I think I should be able to about out the plastic with a heat gun. Not sure about the camera which looks like the joint might be cracked, otherwise still works fine.

The auto park feature hasn't been as accurate as a human in my experience. Parking is often more than 18" from the curb. In one instance backing into a covered car port the truck forgot about the mirrors and hit a pole with the passenger mirror, I was watching the drivers side since it was a tight spot, luckily no damage as I stopped before further damage happened.
In your situation it seems like the truck should have seen the post being as it is tall enough for camera to pick up. Too bad this happened to you.

I, too, learned I had become too comfortable with FSD, and while using auto park, I backed into a wall. Some bumper scratches. I will use auto parl with a close eye on what's behind me and foot over the brake.

That's a well camo'd bollard. Why wouldn't they make it yellow, orange or red?

Hmmm, I am still very cautious watching the display when either it or I are doing tight maneuvers, always checking the yellow to red warnings and heeding the audio alarm. I'm sure if I saw the post and the display wasn't alerting over it I would have taken control quite early.

Just saying, I am not nearly ready to trust it to know what it is seeing.

I still experience some jaw clenching when FSD is in control and is clearly highlighting closeness, but slowly, more and more it seems to reliably know where its edges are. It definitely didn't always. I hope we get past this indeterminate stage fairly quickly.

PS: And yeah, the over 18 inches from the curb parking is getting really tiresome. I don't know what the excuse is.

Bright colors might stand out to our simian brains, but FSD DGAF

Boundaries on the Cybertruck are NOT there yet.

There are two places where I turn right off a divided highway that I curb check - it's about a 20% hit rate.

Another turn off a 2 lane road, on to a divided 2 lane road - curb check - and comes VERY close to a sign.

I do let auto park go sometimes but I have my foot on the brake - I don't trust it (have not had a run in on at any super charger).

Maybe put some bright color on the post so they can bee more easily seen.

I know this is an outdated issue to bring up but decisions were made at some point and may eventually have to be unmade with full autonomy.
There is ZERO chance that could have happened in our old model x with ultrasonic sensors.
I don't think that's true, ultrasonic sensors miss poles all the time. My 2018 Model 3 Performance with ultrasonics ran right into a vertical steel pipe in a parking lot when I was testing the summon feature. No damage, but it did bump right into the pole (because the pole was mid-way between two sensors).

Once the front camera is integrated into Cybertruck's FSD, it will avoid poles. We are still in the early days of getting the front camera integrated with FSD.
