On Friday, I had the truck in fsd and was pulling into a supercharger. I heard rumors that it would find an empty spot automatically and that's what it seemed like it was doing so I let it keep going. It rammed the front into a grey post! I slammed the brake so the damage wasn't huge but it damaged the front fender and maybe a bit of the front camera. From the video it was clear that it was unable to see the pole. I wonder if this will happen to all cybertrucks at this super charger in Rochester WA.

I think I should be able to about out the plastic with a heat gun. Not sure about the camera which looks like the joint might be cracked, otherwise still works fine.

Dang! I wonder if that pole was installed by tesla supercharger team or parking lot.

Either way, I would report to tesla and add it to the review for the supercharger.

Sorry that happened to you.

Usually these poles are installed to keep folks from backing into more costly infrastructure. FSD supervised works fine for parking but it still needs supervision.

Aw sorry man. If FSD even sees the pole, I believe the vision only system can be off by a good foot or two at times. Def miss those ultrasonics that everyone else uses.

The bollard is there to avoid the post getting hit.
Truck is straddling the line instead of being between them.

I know this is an outdated issue to bring up but decisions were made at some point and may eventually have to be unmade with full autonomy.
There is ZERO chance that could have happened in our old model x with ultrasonic sensors.

Like the rear view mirror fiasco, doubt they will retrofit ultrasonic sensors or incorporate in FSD. Maybe we should go back in time machine to the 70/80’s adding ultrasonic sensors to the bumper with a speaker to sound off obstacles 😂

FSD doesn't automatically engage auto park on arrival, you would need to do that on your own after exiting FSD.
Still, it should have not hit the post, nor should it have been allowed to drive into the infrastructure.

The same happened to me but I was backing in and it hit the SC. It scuffed my rear bumper.

can you export the entire clip so we have view full context, and not just a sliver of a clip recorded from your phone?

A few months ago I let FSD auto-park in a garage, and it backed right into a pole with a sign.

And yes, I get the irony that the sign says “Pull-In Parking Only” :ROFLMAO:
