Was thinking it might be nice to let others know you are on FSD. Anything Tesla can add to the back lights? Make part of it a different color? Maybe an ice green subtle color. Different pattern? Even write out “FSD” in red?

Naaa that’s cool. I don’t want someone knowing I’m on FSD hitting me making a fake law suit that they knew I was on FSD not paying attention. ?

Turquoise is the color for ADS systems. SAE thinks so at least.
I wonder if Tesla built in additional color support for the back light. Otherwise a different pattern or writing it out might be achievable?

I don't think it's a good idea. It's not like the other drivers are going to say "A$$ you cut me off!! Oh, you were on FSD? That OK then." Instead, you will just get people yelling at you to drive your car. Many of them without you even bothering them.

As I was in the outside left turn lane it turned into the inside one as other vehicles were also in it. Another instance instead of veering right to go straight straight it went straight to end up in the left turn lane for the freeway. Both required abrupt take overs. I suppose in those cases it would have been nice to let the other party know. Or not and wouldn’t matter either way as you suggest..

As someone who doesn't care to own a Tesla. I wouldn't mind. As a car enthusiast, I also wouldn't mind some sort of indication to vehicles that are using any autonomous feature. With lane departure we have the illuminated turn signals, so something of sort I think would benefit.

At the end of the day, it's not a faultless system. However, for other drivers (those who pay attention at least), it could be beneficial.

Mercedes already has the Turquoise lights on some of their cars. This shows its being self driven.

I thought about this, too, this weekend when the truck failed to let a guy pulling a trailer merge in where an experienced driver might have done so. (I say 'might' because any indication that the 'slow uphill' lane was ending was hidden behind the dude's trailer from our point of view - so, as far as the truck was concerned, it was just tooling along in the middle of 3 lanes. I didn't see that the right lane was ending, either)

The guy was riled up and laid on the horn for a bit when he merged in behind us. Which made me think that one of those "New Driver" magnetic stickers from Amazon might be useful. I mean, it's technically true.

And what should the car does when it's a human driver doing the same thing?

You mean the stickers that get put on a car and stay there forever? Similar to the Baby on Board decals?
They are just ignored.

And something that is visible to external drivers is definitely going to attract the scammers wanting a big payday. You'll be surrounded by cars and people trying to make a lot of money from Tesla.
