It will be interesting to see the time frame to put FSD on a new vehicle with alternative camera placement and vehicle dimensions. They will have the same issues when they license FSD to other automakers. If they can solve it quickly for CT it will give them an idea of what it will take to implement for Ford, who I believe will be the first taker.

I drove my M3P with v12 exactly once so far (I have a new favorite in the stable) and it was a game changer. I've always tried to love FSD but it always felt like a machine was just running code and pretending to be human. For the first time ever, V12 really did feel authentic. Was about a 30 min drive in early morning light Bay Area commute traffic. Sure there were some times I would have merged earlier or later, and stop signs I would have rolled through. But I feel that way when I'm in the passenger seat with my wife driving. Zero interventions in a fairly complex environment, and it felt confident, and I was totally relaxed.

The problem with FSD on is current format is not its effectiveness, it's that you're not allowed to fully trust it - you are required to be in charge. As a result, you bemoan every time it was in a different lane than you would be or if it stops a few feet short of where you would have. Just try to pretend you're in an uber, and roll your eyes about the annoying but perfectly safe mannerisms.

Tesla is going to have a hard time selling this after the free trial.

- slow to speed up after left/right turns

- always below the speed limit by 5-10 mph

- stops way too soon at stop signs

- creeps way too slow after a stop sign to make a left or right turn

- Can’t decide whether the right or left lanes is where it wants to be
Dude, you're not driving the car, why do you care about the speed?

Wouldn't anyone else driving that you complained about their acceleration say, 'Dude, if you don't like it, drive it yourself?'

I don’t mind being a bit slow but I don’t like to hold up drivers behind.

I just stared the free trial of 12.3.2.1 and am both blown away with what it can do, and annoyed by it enough to be unwilling to pay for it. Stop sign behavior is awkward, especially at 4 way stops. It stops too far back, and if making a right turn, it doesn't shift to the right side of the widened lane, which could be confusing to other drivers. I also agree with the driving too slow. Part of it is me wanting to get to my destination a little quicker, but the bigger part is not wanting to be "that guy" to those behind me. A little push on the accelerator works fine, but if I have to do that, I might as well just turn the wheel too, and save the $200/month.

To be fair, most of my driving is either in what most here would consider rural areas, or on highways where basic autopilot does what I need it to do. If I lived in a more urban area or didn't care what others around me thought, my opinion might be different.

The FS scam might keep me from buying a CT even after it is over. If you charge people for something, it should be illegal not to provide it at time of payment. It is certainly scummy. The Powershare mess only aggravates the issue. Amazed there haven't been lawsuits.
So, you're saying GM can't sell an extended warranty until the original warranty runs out?

Got it!

No, this is their Halo product to really push them into new extremely large markets (Trucks/Real SUV's) vs the sedans/cuvs.
Huh? What the heck are you talking about? Tesla was the automaker with the best selling car in the world last year. It was the Model Y which is not a truck or "real" SUV (according to you).

You can't have the best-selling car in the world without already being in the heart of the automotive market!

A reasonably priced high performance (range similar to their Semi) that would seize the lucrative truck and SUV market from ICE counter-part.
Ask GM how lucrative a 450-mile Silverado pickup is for them.

Hint: They lose tens of thousands of dollars on every one they sell, which is why they are only making enough of them to make people think it's real product and not a party trick.

You can start a class action suit. Make millionaires of lawyers while we civilians get $20 each of the loot.

I wonder which is the bigger scam.

But I agree with you on the premise getting on Day 1 what you've already paid for.
If you don't want to pay for something that is not available yet, then never pre-pay for anything that is not available yet!

It really is as simple as that.

Look up Halo product, the model Y is not it. Yes, it is best selling in a huge market of CUV’s. Tesla is using the CT as a Halo product to further expand their business into huge markets. Nothing controversial in what I said.

Yeah because everyone in the road thinks the same way. When it comes out of a turn at a turtles pace it’s a hazard, worse than a student driver.

You made my point “drive it yourself”. FSD requires hands on wheel with inputs to the accelerator in order to not look like a dumbass on the road…. Just drive it yourself.

Tesla should have not offered this free trial, it’s not going to be pretty for them.

Edit: I’m not saying is dog shit, no one else is doing this and I know they will eventually make it perfect. But the price is extremely high for what people will use it for.

That makes no sense. I said only spend your money how you want to spend it. Because the complaint was that Tesla was letting people buy things that were still not fully developed yet. If you don't want to do that, then don't! And don't whine that Tesla lets you do that, if you want.

Some people are such cry babies here.

You're supposed to stop before you enter where pedestrians could be. That's the actual, legal place to do it. You'd fail a driver's exam if you don't do it.

Which is almost always too far back to see around fences or whatever but that's the law. If there's a pedestrian there you don't see, they're going to really appreciate that you planned to stop before hitting them!

You don't like the product until it's better than you? Fine. Just remember its target is to be safer than you, not faster.
