Hello all ,

me and my hybrid Mavrick are doing well in Texas. Seems like I do about 50/50 on electric and gas from what my readings show if anyone wondered. Also I have come to really like a hybrid and only seem to use about 3-4 gallons of gas a week.

But for some time a question has been wondering in my brain. For you all FSD users after reading many, many posts here it is, and it is a serious question.

So you are on FSD and cruising along and a police or firetruck comes from behind with lights going. What does the Truck do? Or they are coming towards you, does FSD see that and pull over like you are to do, or disengage and give you a verbal notice to take over?

Again you are on a road and a school bus on the other side turns on it's lights and slows down to stop and to let someone off. Does FSD know to stop?

I know this does not happen everyday to anyone but just wondered since so many of you love FSD, do you all know what the CT would do or any Telsa on FSD.

Take care and be safe and truly enjoy your CT.

Sincerely,
CyberMavrick guy in Texas

Yes, it can pull over for emergency vehicles but I have no idea how consistent it is, it probably depends upon the situation. I think it was Elon who announced a few months ago that FSD is going to use audio inputs from the cabin microphone to detect sirens too, but I have no idea whether this is implemented yet.

Here's a short video clip of FSD encountering an oncoming ambulance:

Does Tesla FSD Pull Over for Emergency Vehicles

3-4 gallons of gasoline a week? Here in Washington that would cost a lot more than I spend just on electricity for my Cybertruck. How far are you driving that hybrid?

I’ve found it’ll yield to emergency lights on ambulances and police cars by moving right, but probably won’t actually stop if you get pulled over by a cop. I can test that, but I haven’t yet. I’ve always been driving manually the times I’ve gotten stopped.

Also don’t remember a school bus stopping me on the opposite side of the road. I’ve had them on the same side as me and it stopped like it should.

I’ll try to stage both things here shortly. The cop thing will be easy because I am a cop. I’ll have my partner pull me over. The school bus thing will have to be in the right place at the right time.

Thank you both for the answers and again it was a question that I wondered (I'm 66 and still learning) and I know the idea is for FSD to be taking over driving in most times. I am happy that you all are having fun and like your CT. That is the main point, enjoying your special vehicle. I only post real questions and never make fun or such. There are many things I like about the CT but it is just to big for mus to even consider when we were shopping last year.

The Mavrick is great for us as I can still carry small items in the truck bed. I do not keep weekly millage records per say but it does let me know via the screen how many miles I get a gallon, total miles that are electric, etc. So to answer above here is some info. We bought the Mavrick in March 2024 after looking at many different trucks. I have never had the weekly MPG less than 52 and the high was 61 one week. Electric usage seems to be in the 40-50 percent range for our driving. This is not a plug in hybrid either so no electric charges. Gas here in Texas right now is about $2.60-$2.80 depending on station and whats going on in the world. So even if I used 4 gallons a week it would still be close to $10.00 but that would be for about 200+ miles of usage. Compared to our last vehicle this is great. Sorry for the long winded response but wanted to give a good answer to the above questions.

Please be careful and safe and just be kind to people if possible. Most of all enjoy your CyberTruck and family. There are many things I truly like about the CT but it was just to big to consider and just having a screen to drive with actually scared me. I am 66 and super careful driving (no tickets or accidents whole life).

The screen is actually quite liberating, less clutter in front of you when you get in the vehicle for the first time. If you ever give it a chance the Tesla ecosystem is fairly streamlined for ease of use. And as someone who prefers to details his cars personally it is truly a blessing to have no buttons lol!
