I currently have a model Y without FSD. I signed up for the monthly FSD once to try it out and was very disappointed with what I got. I already had basic Autopilot and alll the FSD did was cause the car to break at every stoplight regardless of whether it was green, yellow, or red. It couldn't even make turns on it's own.

I see all these people on Youtube where the car drives them around the city with no interaction from them. That is not even close to what I got. I'm assuming it's because they have "FSD Beta" not just "FSD"? I never got any "beta" during that month.

If I pay for FSD with the Cybertruck, will I actually get "FSD beta" or just the lame "FSD" thing I got before? Will the truck actually navigate on it's own making turns, stopping, driving around parked cars, etc?

It's the same thing. You either didn't enable FSD properly in the settings, or you didn't receive the actual FSD download, which doesn't happen instantly. Not sure exactly when you tried it, because that makes a big difference in how fast it rolled out.

The actual self driving aspect will eventually exist on CT, and is included with foundation series. But at this point not even basic autopilot is active. Autopilot and FSD will be coming at some unknown point in the future via software update.

Yes, you will.

You got what was universally available at the time and not even city streets. Must have been a LONG time ago. FSD Beta became available to anyone that either bought or subscribed to FSD at least a year ago. I am assuming from your comments that you have never tried recent versions. That said, FSD still makes mistakes and has to be watched but it is definitely getting there. I can reliably drive many scenarios w/o intervention. You just cannot get too complacent; let it drive in scenarios you know it will do well in and disengage in the ones it doesn’t.

?This?

Regardless of whether you love or hate Elon’s hype, the name of the product, etc., it’s hard to argue that FSD is an incredible driver assistance tool unrivaled by anything else out on the market. Even Enhanced Autopilot is an excellent tool.

I did the same with the Y and it was because beta wasn't rolled out yet. If you tried the subscription again you'd get the good stuff. But you have to enable it.

I do rideshare and im basically just the cars supervisor. It even gets me to the exact houses better than I would on my own.

FSD 12.3 is a significant improvement over FSD 11.4. Yes all FSD are officially Beta releases.

No, that is recent history. For the longest time there was the publicly-available features only. Then there was a oeriod of time when FSD buyers (before subscriptions became available) where you could say you wanted to test the city streets FSD feature. Then there was the FSD Beta and the publicly-available features and there was a big difference between the two. Then they started offering subscriptions but the subscriptions were on the publicly-available branch and not the beta branch. Then they merged FSD Beta into the main FSD build and let anyone with a subscription use FSD Beta. Now that there is Version 12, there is a difference again. Those on subscription and owner but haven't received the Version 12 buid are on Version 11.x and that is [much] different than the Version 12 build. When Version 12 goes public they will probably merge again.

It was around September 2022. I definitely had something new but there was certainly no self-driving navigating. My app even said I was not it the beta, just signed up for it. Again this was thier monthly subscription ~$200/mo, I only did 1 month. I never paid for the full $10,000 FSD.

I spoke to Tesla at the time and they said yes you have it enabled and described exactly what I had. It can auto change lanes on highways and recognize stoplight but won't do city navigation self steering.

Thanks. I might try again next time I'm doing a road trip.

Thank you, that perfectly explains what was going on when I tried it. How do we know when version 12 will be pushed to public? (i.e. when would I get version 12 on a subscription?)

Also, I guess that goes back to my original question, am I guaranteed to get the beta if I buy FSD with the cybertruck?

Yes beta comes with the FSD package. Provided they ever activate it for CT

But if you are deemed naughty they can ban you from it
