I am running the latest software 2024.39.5 or FSD v.12.5.5.3 that came out last week. In the last 2-3 updates since I got the truck I have noticed it seems be to getting a worse at handling red lights and I can’t seem to notice any pattern. This morning it drove up to a red light and about 75 yards from intersection light goes green > yellow > red and I am watching screen in truck which shows the light turn to red and by 25-50 yards while showing red on truck screen was making no effort to slow so I slammed on brakes to stop. I bet after the last few updates I am having to take over once per drive to stop it from blowing through a red light with lots of notice. Anyone else having this issue? I am new to Tesla but since FSD has been out for years I figured red lights would have been nailed down by now.

Photos to show green yellow red distance.

I have let it go right through a red light before when no1 was there to see if it would.
Fsd is only good on long highway trips right now

Even the last update (12.5.5.2) sucked at yellow turning into red lights. It treated every yellow light as if it was a green light and only started slowing down if it was red.

One time it was so bad that the light turned yellow and then red and the CT just kept going even though it was 2 seconds from the lane stop and blew thru the light which was a obvious red.

other times it just sped right thru the intersection right when the light turned red, knowing that the yellow light was on and would not have enough time... 99% of people would of stopped, but not the CT. Got to watch it every time now... its scary...

Yep. Still broken. Mine runs stop signs too. It also tried to drive through a large backhoe cruising down the double yellow in both lanes. Also likes to cross double yellow on blind curves. Pay attention!!

Noticed this worse red light behavior occasionally in 12.5.5.2 and now on the first drive for 12.5.5.3. It's pretty easy to look out for since I'm sure we all follow instructions and pay attention while using test releases...

I wouldn't expect vast changes with a x.x.x.2 to x.x.x.3 version change, if any. Wonder if these incremental changes are really just deployments of an updated shadow mode for better field testing.

do you think this is unique to Cybertruck somehow being new and training? Or are all Tesla models likely having this same issue? I’m just surprised that FSD has been out since Oct 2020 and they still haven’t trained to to stop at red lights.

Seems like we're on as bit of an island with different hardware than the rest of the fleet. I've heard of different issues/experiences with FSD on the other cars so development or implementation might still be somewhat divided between the different hardware versions.

Red light behavior by itself might be easy to solve by a few manual rules, or even focused training, but it's just one of many significant issues at intersections. Stop signs, left turns, non standard markings, 45deg turns. Not that it fails everytime for any of these, but it's common enough. I think these are basic things that should (and can, probably) get to a zero failure rate pretty quick with the right learning. Since 'improved performance at intersections and stops' is still distinctly listed as one of the 4 upcoming improvements, I'd assume it's still consuming a lot of effort and has a ways to go.

I'll counter that argument.

Used it yesterday on my way home. My normal route was backed up due to an accident. So, my truck turned left out of the parking lot, made a series of stops and turns and a couple of merges. Then, it screwed up and was in the right lane to go forward. I could tell there was construction ahead and all the detour signs didn't bode well.

I was already at the head of the line at the light so I figured I'd let Fluffy figure it out. Holy Hell, He did. He got right up to the detour stuff, routed around a turnabout and then took a right to get back on track.

We then did a driving tour past the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, (I think the Jefferson memorial as well. Then, right past the Smithsonian. Well, one of them. and on to Pennsylvania Avenue.

Man, was that narrow. Oh, I had to intervene when a policeman was directing traffic. It was getting dark and I could hardly see him, but, whatever.

I did intervene another time when someone stopped in front of me in an intersection when they were trying to cut in ... hard to explain. If I had driven straight (and Fluffy was avoiding it), I would have clipped his left rear light and hatch... But, Fluffy started edging forward and right. There was a bus to the right and I got a bit nervous and took over. Fluffy would have missed the car and been fine.

Thing I liked: Pulling forward after stopping is much more deliberate and seems to take into account how far ahead and how fast the next vehicle is going.

Another thing, Fluffy kept the gap small enough and didn't just let people over. A bit of a d!ck... But, sometimes, Fluffy let people in. Seemed to be fair mostly.

Okay, approached a traffic light kind of slowly... light turned yellow. Okay. We kept going... not sure if the light turned red before our tires crossed the line or after but I wouldn't be surprised to find a ticket in the mail.

It's much better than it ever was but FSD is definitely not a 100% hands off situation in DC, at least. Not yet, anyway.

Yeah, mine just started doing it in the last week. Once on the way back from the airport in Detroit and then just now on my way back from the gym had plenty of time to stop. I had to slam on the brakes with about 25 yards to go

I was at a red light going to make a left turn with no light arrow. The light turned green and that sucker decided it was going to go left right away in front of the oncoming traffic that also got there green. I took over. I don’t mind the new technology failing as it upgrades. My big not understanding part is why I can see Waymo driving ALONE as taxis and seem to be able to do fine?
