I still believe that Tesla FSD will improve; that was not what we were talking about. All of these influencers make it sound like FSD is deep in the march of 9s. It isn’t. It cannot reliably choose the correct lane to drive in and that is a basic driving skill and not an edge case. They focus on what Tesla has improved and that would be ok if they ever fixed anything that they call out. I know that Chris has noted some issues many times, and maybe he is just tired of doing so. Sadly he is a speeder and a self-proclaimed tailgater so I cannot really believe what he says about speed profiles. He is definitely right that Tesla seems to ignore speed limit signs and I suspect they will pay dearly for that when the NHTSA finally wakes up. I don’t have anything good to say about speed profiles but I’d trust FSD a lot if it could choose the right lane, and either get into it or stay in it. I guess what I am looking for is a more comprehensive list of pros and cons that is independent of what Tesla is saying.

I'm just under probably 40k miles on FSD use. My FSD uses are mostly highway travel, so maybe my experiences are different to yours, if you drive a lot on surface streets/residential areas.

The main issue that I share with you is it's struggles with correct surface street speeds. Sometimes it decides to speed in residential areas, regardless of the profile I pick. And then sometimes it likes to cruise 3-4 mph under the speed limit, regardless of the profile I pick.

I don't have any issues with lane choice on the freeways I drive regularly nor its choice in speeds for the freeways, but there are a few off ramps and exits that I do feel it needs to get over for sooner for instead of waiting the final mile to try. In California rush hour traffic, if you don't get over soon enough.. No one is gonna let you in and it ends up adding 15-20 minutes to your drive back tracking.

I also get the occasional lane switching hesitation for no obvious reason. No one in the lane it wants to switch too, yet it just kind of hangs there as if it see's someone is coming when they are not.

Aside from those issues, everything else I have is mostly just nitpicking. I can honestly say in my experience it has not done anything that I would consider dangerous or overly concerning during my usage. It drives and makes decisions better than the vast majority of human drivers in California do. Not that it says much, considering how bad drivers in California are.

This and navigation blunders are going to be around for a while simply due to the sheer amount of inference needed. Humans take for granted just how much of a superpower context aweareness is in this word. It's probably the number one reason we the apex predator on this planet.

If FSD is going to fast and refuses to slow down to the speed you want, a decent trick is to scroll down to sloth, disengage using the button, and re-engage when it falls on the exact speed you want it to go. Most of the time it will take the hint and maintain it (but not always).

FSD absolutely will attempt to maintain the natural flow of traffic regardless of the speed limit. It does this purely from a safety factor rather than following a (sometimes) arbitrary speed limit.

As others have mentioned before, speed limits will largely become irrelevant within the next decade as autonomy takes off like a Starship.

As one of the comments said, no ASS, banish, etc.

Edit: Also odd that they are working on driver monitoring to track eyes better with and without glasses. I was hoping it would be relaxed a bit
Weird when i hear this because mine has become almost non-existent. Only alerts if I am playing with my phone. I can lay my head back and close my eyes and it drives fine.

You and me both. Being threatened with strikes by a metal box I paid for pisses me off. I understand the legalities, but leave the choice to me. I paid for it.
Other then that, it's the best vehicle I have ever owned and I've owned dozens. Watching it find a parking space at a mall, on the street, driveway, etc., gives me goose bumps. Amazing machine.

5 minutes and it will threaten you with a strike. It used to be 30 minutes. Or more.

For a short time, sure.

14.3 is more strict on this according to multiple reviews.

Unfortunately, because people want to sue when the inevitable happens, the cars that have a steering wheel will always need you to pay attention, instead of napping, to place the risk on you.

I have less complaints being driven around by Cybertruck than when I'm being driven by my wife. Or my mom. Or my kids, or a friend, or really anyone I know. I've come to accept that it won't always make the same decisions that I would have, just like other drivers won't. But it knows what it's doing, is safe, and aside from helping it find the right speed and choose a parking spot every now and then, it's nearly perfect.

Imagine if you're riding with your spouse, but critiquing every tiny detail the way we tend to do with FSD. We expect it to be perfect, when nothing on the road is.

Interestingly, I rarely get threatened with a strike, even when wearing sunglasses. My wife however was complaining how bad it was, all the time. The difference was she wore a baseball cap, and when I put on a cap the nagging became all non-stop even when staring straight ahead. It definitely has a bias against hats with a brim!

You attitude upsets me, Dave.

You don't want to upset me do you, Dave?

Do I need to close the hangar bay doors, Dave?

I take pothole avoidance before ASS.

Today was the worst and closest I have came to an accident with FSD. Getting off an interstate ramp, it was about half way through the clover leaf and just stopped turning on a decreasing road ramp and headed for the curb. It didn't straighten the wheel out it just stopped turning more which it needed to do due to the decreasing radius of the ramp. I have great reflexes and grabbed the wheel and cut it the rest of the way otherwise we would have been over the curb and down the embankment. I was about 6 in from the curb when it happened. It was absolutely f****** crazy. Cybercab? Yeah right. Not a chance.

My CT is still swerving when it sees skid marks. Not sure why. I guess it thinks it is an object.
