The dry wiping happens when the camera system detects lower contrast images than expected. This can be minimized by cleaning the forward facing camera lenses and the windshield area in the camera line-of-sight (inside and out). Keeping those surfaces pristine will greatly reduce the false wipes. When I turn on full self driving my windshields automatically go on set to auto. Any help on how to disable the windshield wipers?
You can pin the wiper settings to the bottom toolbar.Yes, it’s super annoying.
Best way I’ve found to disable is using voice and say “wiper off”, every time I enable FSD. Using the wiper button does one wipe which isn’t ideal.
Not sure if there is a way from the screen to find wiper settings…
I want to take control of whether I want FSD to detect when it thinks wiping is needed. I want to have a display button that simply says "wipers off" that would stay off for the entire current drive even when engaging and un-enguaging FSD throughout the entire current drive. It is very annoying and distracting on multi-hour interstate drives. How easy would that be to correct this problem.it is a pain in the ass too get dry wiped.
I have been doing the voice command, wipers off. it works, but it should be fixed by Tesla.
I have done this since I seen yours. Very handy. You can pin the wiper settings to the bottom toolbar.
Yes, I cleaned mine (inside surface of windshield under the camera binnacle and the camera lenses) and it reduced dry wiping by around 90%. I still get the occasional dry wipe and I don't see what the big issue is. A seldom dry wipe doesn't really impact my day enough to even mention it. Today I drove over 100 miles, I had one dry wipe, it was not a big enough deal to bother turning my wipers off..Is it possible this is from offgassing film inside the window in from of the forward facing cameras? I shtis something Tesla can clean since I can't?
I clean the outside. Is there a way for me to clean the inside and lenses? The dry wiping happens when the camera system detects lower contrast images than expected. Tesla could have made this job easier, maybe they didn't want to encourage those who shouldn't be messing with FSD cameras from screwing it up. I live an hour each way from the nearest Tesla Service so I had some incentive to do it myself. The hardest part is it's in an awkward place to be working. The good news is it will need to be done much less often with time, as the outgassing of new plastics decreases with time.I clean the outside. Is there a way for me to clean the inside and lenses?
