Met a dude playing poker on Saturday night. One of the regulars asked me about my Cybertruck pre-order and how production was going.
This guy jumped in with his "Electric cars are slow and lame" business.
"I've got a Diesel truck." he said, "With real power!".
I pointed out to him that I will always be able to create electricity at home to charge the Cybertruck. Solar panels, windmill, hell I could do it with a bicycle if I needed to.
But when they stop selling him Diesel, or Diesel becomes prohibitively expensive his car will be entirely worthless.
He just muttered something about "Smoking me on the road".
I felt kinda bad for him that he is so far behind in his expectations of reality.

Then I took his money.

Either way good to see production plans are progressing smoothly.
He is a dinosaur and doesn’t know about the mass extinction coming. Let him live out his years in ignorance.

Diesel trucks were never fast lol. They can pull things but that's about it.

I blame the nissan leaf for the slow and lame mindset with EVs.

Shoulda bet pink slips lol

But…. All the noises? The screaming manliness. You must be misunderstanding it. They’re very very fast….. very.

Yeah, Diesel Trucks are not slow...OEM maybe due to emissions related constraints but they can be built out to be very fast and a lot of people do it (eg all the ones that smoke)...

I had an 86 F250 turbo diesel. I replaced the glow plugs, other than that it was a dependable truck. And man’s truck it was - rode best with about 1000 pounds of stuff in the bed. When it came time to pass, the cloud of black smoke that came out was embarrassing but it did in fact move along and made noises Tim Taylor would have been proud of. Without the turbo, full throttle was a movement of your foot but not much really happened after that.
…and there was this strange phenomenon I learned was common to that model - transmitting on a CB would create a full throttle situation as long as you were transmitting.
so what manly thing will happen with the cybertruck when you go to full throttle - no black smoke, no rattling of the horses like down a cobble stone road, just head back thrust - and objects in the mirror becoming indiscernible

I was with a friend of mine in his S plaid. A guy with a stock hell cat was making fun of him at the light.
My friend said : " Well, let me see just how much slower we are"
the other guy, very cocksure and proud agreed.
ABSOLUTLEY 'smoked' him.
We slowed down for the next light to chat about it
The other guy wouldnt even roll down his window

The other thing funny about that, is the Hellcat was SCREAMING its guts out. Obviously giving everything it had. While the Plaid is just out for a nice jog stretching its legs, and it can do that over and over like it's nothing.
