The Cybertruck event was in November 2019 and at that time there was no Giga Texas only Fremont. And during the four years since that time inflation was the highest in 40 years and all of the EV companies like GM, Ford, Lucid , Rivian etc were losing billion$ on EVs. The last time I checked Tesla was also an EV company with shareholders so I don't understand how even some big YouTubers like. MKBHD, Dan Markham (What's Inside) were bitching about the price change after four years.
They bitched because it received clicks. People on YouTube aren't necessarily intelligent.

True, but if you are talking about the comments below the videos, why are you convinced they are real people? Web bots are being used as disinformation weapons and they are entirely unregulated.

Just because they use artificial intelligence, doesn't mean they have to speak to the truth. They are being trained to do the dirtiest work available, to deceive and mislead. I would like to see a federal law that when AI bots act like humans, they have to disclose that they are not human.

No bots made Elon say stupid stuff, like that Green Day song was 'attacking him'. ?

-Crissa
I can't believe you're talking about something so meaningless. And that assumes that Elon ever said the band was attacking him, which I've not seen.

Did you just make that up or do you have a news feed that said this was important in some twisted way?

The only reason I'm commenting on such trivial matters is because you are doing a fantastic job of illustrating my main point, which is simply that Elon threatens so many financial interests that there are a ton of powerful interests, including the media, all stretching the truth to try to make him look like a bad person, using any means at their disposal. It's meaningless drivel, given the serious state of the world.

What? Because Elon is in the middle of the political spctrum he becomes a punching bag for both sides?

I think the truth is more simple: Elon threatens massive financial interests so they have an army of web bots out there trying to make people think Elon is bad. And easily manipulated people have jumped on the bandwagon for their own reasons.

In the real world, sure, some people have been influenced by this disinformation campaign, but most of the extreme negativity comes from the Internet. Look at the two Youtubers driving their new Cybertruck from Austin to Joshua Tree. One of them said the people they meet are polar opposites of the haters online. People are interested and positive about the Cybertruck, for the most part. They don't see the haters in the real world.
If he can shut X down and then Facebook and a couple of other sites, I believe that he would have done the country an honor.

That's some pretty short-sighted thinking for the same reason that putting all the crystal meth dealers in jail isn't going to stop people from ruining their life with crystal meth.

The problem with Twitter was that it gave cover to the government to censorship the speech of freedom loving people. The new X doesn't pretend that distasteful speech won't occur, but it does respect every American's First Amendment Right to free speech without government censorship (which is factually what was happening at Twitter before Elon took over).

And free speech is necessary in a highly functioning democracy. In a digital age, humanity desperately needed a bonafide "public forum" where people could freely excercise their right to free speech. Anything less is a slippery slope into tyranny. Which is exactly what was happening before Elon broke up the unholy alliance between Twitter and the Federal Government.

That was a very scary situation to anyone who holds democracy dear. It's not clear to me why so many people seem to not understand this unless it's simply because the mainstream media largely failed to report on this in proportion to its significance to our democratic values.

For those still in the dark about why this is so significant, I recommend reading this short Newsweek editorial:

The FBI Colluded With Twitter to Suppress Free Speech. Where Is the Outrage? | Opinion (newsweek.com)

I don't really disagree with anything that you said.

BUT, the Internet has made everything too easy to do. And that has its consequences.

I know, "back in the day". I've erased a number of TLDR paragraphs, but when information travels slower, the content seems to be more reliable.

The creation of highly paid influencers has undermined just about everything today. It especially has undermined the press.

There are indeed important things to say. I don't live far from where Larry Flynt was shot, who, along with the strangest bedfellow, Jerry Falwell, became some of the biggest supporters of the First Amendment in recent years.
