Not to get in a heated discussion but what’s your #1 disappointment?
Gentle Reminder: You boys are treading into the Political Arena and could get this entire thread shut down. Easy as you go!

U asked what my most disappointment on Elon Musk. It would be either his extreme conservative X posts or his involvement in the Federal Government. He should stay in his own lane and not be an oligarch .

Never when I come out of the truck, always when I’m driving by ?. Occasional thumbs down but everyone should be used to it by now. Last person gave me a thumbs down with anime stickers and plushies in their windows

I live in a rural area.....
Kids love it, and surprisingly most women. Actually been shocked at how many elderly people have shown interest and asked lots of questions.
Exactly!

I haven’t watched CNN since 2016 and don’t get news from any political bubble. Is your assertion that I’m retarded and can’t do the one thing that humans instinctually can do and that is identify movements with our highly tuned eyeballs. Make it make sense. I challenge you. [But you don’t get to use any strawmen].

Sound? What he said? Are you kidding me? Does that mean you didn’t get the joke from Mel Gibson when he said “big smile” in lethal weapon? If somebody throws you a bird while saying “I don’t know how this machine works” or “have a nice day” does that confuse you? Really? Is that what you want us to believe about your mentality and your ability to discern reality?

I don’t believe that a single one of these protestations are in good faith or serious. Show me I’m wrong.
I think the mistake people make is that they assume he is a normal person. For better or for worse, this type of person comes around once every few centuries in terms of world impact. I have watched nearly every available Musk interview and read all the books about him—we are talking about a manchild with very awkward behaviors, movements, and mannerisms, ESPECIALLY when expressing emotion (the fact that he is incapable of feeling or expressing emotion is a prominent topic in the latest biography written by Isaacson). There are numerous other examples of his awkwardness (e.g., dancing during grand opening of China gigafactory, appearance on SNL, strange/childish posing at Met Gala). My personal opinion is that the only time he sounds and looks normal/comfortable is when he is talking about science, business, etc.

I’m curious to know what your take is on his interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin during the DealBook Summit when he was practically holding back tears talking about the hostages and persecution of Jews for thousands of years. It is no secret that he made this election a months-long personal battle to preserve democracy (at least in his mind), and when he got on stage during the inauguration, he was jumping up and down, celebrating and expressing his utmost amount of emotion, the only way he knew how, nothing more, nothing less. Obviously, we can all draw our own conclusions, but I 100% respectfully disagree with you about the intent of the gesture. Speaking of the inauguration, what do you think about the moment where he was shown doing some crazy stuff with his head and eye movements? Is he an alien disguised as a human? :D

Can't bring yourself to admit you were wrong. Yep that definitely on-brand.
Not sure what you mean by "on-brand" -- but yeah - I hope to be as smart, educated, and error-free as yourself. I can only hope.

Cogent, reasonable, thoughtful. I like your style!

My view is that the totality of the circumstances point to this being non-accidental and non-innocent (at least in the grand scheme of things -i.e. the gesture is a net negative for society as a whole Tesla, EM et al).

Do I think EM is a Nazi? No. do I think he thinks he’s racist. No. Do I think that the record is replete with evidence to conclusively demonstrate a record of animus and hostility and bias? Only because I have eyes, ears, and the ability to separate fact from fiction.

[Take the litigation at Fremont as a simple example. Imagine litigating a case where the evidence of your racially charged hostile work environment is literally written on the walls like a vile Jim Crow era sign post! Of course, you got your ass handed to you! No employer with compunction or brains would’ve done anything but settle that crap and try to get the culture straightened out immediately. This is not a guess, this is the kind of work I used to do early in my career defending employers from this kind of crap at the top firm in the nation to do so - Littler Mendelson (now known as just Litler)! Brazen and categorically stupid stance and response!]

I cannot know what’s in his heart. But I know what I saw. And I know that it wasn’t accidental, by any stretch. Not twice!

To the nincompoop who suggested to me last night that; “no ‘lawyer’ would ever think that EM did,” what he most certainly did do. I already told you about me and my wife, but I did have occasion before court today to be in the room with five attorneys from varying backgrounds and political persuasion (one of them wasn’t even part of the conversation and decided to join the fray through aggressive nodding) and your answer is - 100% of them. ??‍♂

I’ll just say it again that, for the most part, anybody publicly vehemently objecting to the mere suggestion that this was out of line is: being paid, has an agenda, or needs the truth to be other than it is - for whatever reason.

Like you, I’ve watched hours and hours of this man speaking (less now that he’s off topic from what I wanna hear about). I don’t think he’s a consciously evil man. I believe that he is broken, and brilliant, and complicated, and stupid, and smart, and juvenile, and driven, and a whole bunch of other things. Most of us are a mixed bag.

I was only ever here for the stated mission and the tech. I didn’t come for and won’t stay for anything else. We will see how this develops.

Although I was poking fun at Gus, there’s a kernel of truth in the jealousy allegation—okay, maybe a whole popcorn bucket’s worth. Let’s face it, everyone knows what these Cybertrucks cost.
Well, not entirely true. Almost to the person, when they ask me what these things cost, people are stunned to hear mine was under $80k and you can buy one today for $71,500. The pretty much universal response is something like, "REALLY! That's not bad! I thought these were $120k!" So, for whatever reason, the "OMG! CTs are for sale and they're over $100k!" narrative from the launch etched into their brain, but no CT news since then has registered.

But I think your larger point about jealousy is spot on.
